This is definitely a five star place! It is the only ski flying facility in the Western Hemisphere. Height: 469 feet (143 m) - I climbed to the top and it was pretty nerve wracking as it's so high and windy there It moves up to 18 inches (46 cm) on a windy day. You've got to have steel balls to do ski flying! Check out the "Sammy C project" on YouTube... Amazing. Copper Peak was built in 1970 and was closed in 1994 and has a K-point of 145. The staff was super nice. Big thanks to Sheri who let me to the top of the trampoline despite me coming late. For a ski jumping / flying fan like me it meant a lot. Unforgettable experience.

Opened in 1970, Copper Peak was once the height of excitement in the Ironwood, Michigan area. People would come from all over the world to launch themselves off of this amazing ski-flying jump. Now it is a tourist site ("Adventure Ride") that should not be missed. Take the ski lift to the top of the hill and then the elevator to near the top of the jump. Climb a number of stairs and take in the majestic views that surround you. Ignore the fact that the structure is swaying in the wind. Stare down from the top of the ski jump and imagine sending yourself down that incredible decline with 6 foot skis strapped to your feet. Maybe buy a magnet or commemorative coin from the super nice woman at the gift shop. This is a piece of UP history, and I hope that at some point in the future folks will again be flying off this structure with skis.

Wow! This is not any ski jump...its a ski fly that launches skiers over 600 ft!! It appears to be only one of a few in the country. I just happened to be driving by this and could not miss it. Just seeing this structure sticking into the sky is amazing. I hope to return in the winter to see it in use.
