Not what we were thinking at all. If you're looking for a lake just to walk around this could be it.

We walk this leashed pet friendly, serene lake almost nightly. The shorter loop is 2.3 miles long,…read moreand the longer loop is 3.8 miles long. There are poo bags for the better, responsible pet owners and most are so. There are protected swans and geese everywhere, which adds to the beauty. Most of the walkers are friendly. Plenty of places to stop and sit to take it in or meditate. There's even dining if you're making an evening of it-including a crepe shoppe and ice cream shoppe. Please clean up after your pets, to keep this gracious area pet friendly!

Horrible. Horrible. Used them twice for a house at Lake Junaleska, and both were horrible. First…read moretime we were scheduled to arrive right after Helene destroyed the area. The Govenor was asking everyone to stay away. We were told that the house was standing so there was no refund. Even if all the roads were closed! After many nasty phone conversations, we were rescheduled to a different part of the state. Then we reserved a house in the same area. 2 months before we arrived, we noted that the description mentioned 6 beds but the pics only showed 5 beds. We were told that the description was right and pics were wrong. Doesn't make sense! When we arrived and noted the problem and contacted the company.....3 days ( and daily queres) before we got the response of "oops". Also asked for sheets for the futon on day one. When we left on day 7, no sheets and no response. Horrible. Horrible! I wish I could give them minus 5.

Good place to visit!…read more Duke Energy worked with the city/state/County? to build this beach/Park. Nice parking spots on both sides of the road. Bathrooms located up in the parking area. A nice ramp down all the way to the water. Seriously, you could wheel a wheelchair all the way into the lake. The sand is very nice. And you can easily swim out to and hold onto the barriers. There's a dock off to one side where you can fish off of. We'll thought out and done pretty well. They even have donated life jackets for kids hanging here at the beach! My reasons for 4 instead of 5 stars: Dogs. The path down to the beach was littered with dog poop. On the path, on the side, everywhere! It was gross and unsanitary. Don't know if dogs are allowed on the beach, but they've turned the park area to crap. The beach is quite small. I do believe too small to support all the parking. The beach is very steep. I know it's the mountains, but if you're going to drain the lake and make a beach, a gentler slope to the beach for the little ones would've been preferable. A larger swim area. Some people just want to swim! Maybe another 10 feet out into the lake for swimming, not just waking.
