Stopped in once to Lake George Baking during our vacation to the Lake George area. I decided on a "variety box" of goodies consisting of an apple turnover, a chocolate covered cannoli, an eclair, a cinnamon twist, and a large 1/2 chocolate covered almond cookie. We ate most of the contents of our variety box on top of Prospect Mountain, after driving up there on the Veterans Memorial Highway. The apple turnover was the best we've ever had, my wife suggested we should get several of those turnovers before we head back to Connecticut (but we didn't stop back in, unfortunately). I devoured the eclair, it was absolutely orgasmic ! DANG, can't believe I just said that, but it was that good. However, we felt the cinnamon twist was a bit dry, but the almond cookie was decent. The "Loser" of the box (by far) was the chocolate covered cannoli though -- the filling did not go all the way through and it was lackluster (consuming it after that apple turnover and the eclair might not have helped). We've had better cannolis. So all in all, we definitely know what to order on a return trip to Lake George Baking -- the apple turnovers & eclairs, obviously. I stopped in because I saw a sign on the outside that said it was the home of fudgy the dessert cookie and I thought it was something original and that I never saw again, but all it looked like was a butter cookie with fudge on top. Spent my birthday in Lake George last weekend and was looking for bakeries to buy a cake in. Found this place while in town with my friend on a whim. Went in around 3:30 on a Friday and luckily the baker was in! My friend got me a cake and says the flavor was vanilla with buttercream since that was all she had to make that day before they closed. She made a beautiful cake all in 30-40 minutes! I like vanilla but wouldn't be my first choice. When I saw the cake I was impressed and loved the colors. When I tasted the cake.. I kid you not, it WAS THE MOST DELICIOUS vanilla cake I've ever had. There was some custard inside which was delicious! Mouth watering when I think about it. I wish this bakery was in close proximity to where I lived but then actually would be quite dangerous. We not only got cake but got some treats too, cream puff, eclairs, carrot cake and chocolate cupcake and ALL DELICIOUS! I couldn't stop eating the carrot cake. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Suffice to say I will come here every time I'm back in Lake George! read more

I was in the area for the Lake George Winterfest! My friends suggested we pick up some goodies on the way home. I love pastries, so I was more than game for the suggestion. It was such a delight to walk in and see and smell the lovely pastries. They have fresh bread and deserts. I also found out that there is another location in Queensbury. I had no idea and I worked in Queensbury for a year. There were so many delicious options to choose from that I was overwhelmed. It is a small location and there were two customers in front of us. A great little find right by downtown Lake George Village. If you are staying at the Marriott Courtyard it is literally a hop skip away. Its a no frills.bakery and the service was ok. We definitely didn't get a service with a smile. Now on to the baked good. We got 3 things. The lobster tail with strawberry and whip crea. The black and white cookie and the apple turn over. I will start with the worst. The lobster tail was horrible. The 'tail' was not flaky at all, it tasted dense and it tasted almost stale. The custard and the whip cream was dense and not airy. All in all, I would definitely avoid this. It was so bad we only ate half. The black and white cookie was ok. Nothing to write home about. Now on to why I gave this biz a 4 star despite the first 2 bad reviews. The apple turnover is SOOOOoo good. The filling tasted fresh and not overly sweet. The crusty, airy, flaky turnover crust was so tasty. We couldn't stop eating. Take our advice and those of the other yekpers and get urself some apple turn over. I love love love this place. This probably will be the only reason I'd go back to Lake George. I'm still dreaming about the 7layer chocolate cake. My only regret is I didn't get more. Being from around here I'm sad to say I never came here before. I could have had such delicious pastries, cakes, cookies in my life way before now. The lady at the counter is super awesome. Tells you everything you need to know. I was told to come here from a friend and ask for lobster tails. So I ordered 3 and was told that they are being made as we speak. I waited 10 minutes for heaven in a box. They have strawberries and raspberries. I recommend getting them while you can. While waiting 4 other couples came in and all asked for lobster tails. So I knew my friend was on to something. I came home opens the pastry box and was in heaven. The aroma, the size, the looks were great. That first bite took me to a place I never been to before. Sadly to say when I was done eating it I was back into reality. I need to get a job there and learn the baking skills from the great baker's of the Lake George Bakery. read more

Delicious sweet treats in Lake George along with fresh breads, but I would have liked to have seen more options. Would have been nice if they had some donuts in the morning. What a disappointment! If I could rate this bakery with a zero, I would. Back in the late spring of 2018, I stopped by their Lake George location with my friend, Roberta (who used to be the Director of Sales at Fort William Henry on Lake George) to see if they would be interested in baking about 200-300 fall-themed cookies for a wedding I was managing on the Horicon in October. The owner, Debbie, said yes she would do it and asked me to contact her after Labor Day to discuss the details. I trusted her. Big mistake. I sent multiple e-mails via their website and received no reply. Called twice and left messages with "Nina". No call back (!). This occurred over a period of about three weeks. As a hospitality professional, I find their lack of response inexcusable. Apparently, others have had an issue with these people because when I posted an ISO message on the local Marketplace websites looking for recommendations for other bakeries, people commented that they had had problems with Lake George Bakery, too. Terrible customer service. Find another baker as I did (and will report on her after the event takes place) as these people apparently don't care and, it was suggested (not by me but by others), that they may be going out of business. read more

Strictly concerning the service which was despicable. After ordering a cake with certain specifications I arrived and was presented with almost nothing of which I ordered and this was following TWO phone conversations. I ordered a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and a specific message on the cake. The frosting was white and the message was wrong. After going back and forth with the employee, who was very nice and professional, I talked with the owner who basically told me that if I wanted the cake I ordered I'd have to pay over and above what I already paid. I expressed my displeasure as she was walking away with her botched cake and raising my voice as she was bent on dismissing me. In as much I asked her if this is how she ran her business and she proceeded to get in my face and told me to lower my f---ing voice. I couldn't believe that my protests, which were reasonable, were met with profanity and said as much and was met with more profanity and banned from the store. She locked me out and used an obscene gesture. I was threatened that the whole in incident was on video and I challenged her to put the video on the local news and I was told "They're personal friends!" My challenge is still issued to the store owner if she cares to get the public's opinion on the entire situation. Any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Just be warned, if your order is botched it will no doubt be your fault and you'll have to pay over and above the botched order to get what you ordered in the first place. In all fairness, the food is delicious but NOTHING and I mean NOTHING short of a heartfelt public apology and a fully compensated cake will ever get me to spend one red cent in that bakery ever again. During my brief stop in Lake George, I stopped in at the Lake George Baking Company on Amherst Street near the Price Chopper for a few bakery items for my roadtrip. This little bakery is owned and operated by the former owners of the Vanilla Bean Baking Co in Troy, which was definitely one of my favorite bakeries. LGBC offers a good selection of individual desserts, eclairs, pastries, cheesecakes, muffins, cookies, cupcakes, pies, breads, rolls, and cakes for special occasions including birthdays and weddings. They also offer their Fudge Fancy cookies here! There was a small crowd of customers packed inside the small front area, but the short line moved quickly as I pointed out which bakery items behind the glass display case I wanted to purchase. In and out! The napolean, one of my favorite desserts, is layered with a pastry sheets, creamy sweet filling and sweet frosting on top. The maple frosted cinnamon bun is good sized which has plenty of cinnamon, sugar roll in soft pastry, and topped with a sweet maple frosting. The cannolis have a cool and sweet ricotta filling stuffed in a firm shell. By the time I finished up enjoying my sweet purchases, I wanted to head back to Lake George again for get some more! This little bakery is a true gem, a nice place to stop for "solid great" bakery items, to satisfy the sweet tooth. read more

I'm allowing 2 stars as we haven't tried the cake yet and I hope it tastes good, as I paid $40 and it sure doesn't look good. The cake was not ready until an hour after I requested it, leading me to worry they were rushing the finishing and decorating of it. They insisted the cake box stay open when I took it, in order not to "smush" the whipped cream. Shouldn't a cake fit properly in its box? I sat in the backseat with the cake and on arriving home, found that the layers had slid apart. Thus, confirming my fear of a rushed cake. I called and was told "the cake should not move" but that they could fix it if returned. We are 40 minutes away and had already waited on the cake on the first visit. Spending another 2 hrs to get the cake fixed on my daughters birthday isn't an option. I'm just so disappointed with the execution of this cake. read more

I waited as long as I could before reviewing this, to give the company every chance to correct the mistakes but my family and I have had 4 orders with 3 of them having issues in under a year and a half. The good - July 2017 we got two great cakes from Lake George Baking Company that matched the photos we showed them. Delicious and gorgeous. August 2018 - When we placed our order, we were told that LG Baking Company could do everything we wanted. Two days before we were to pick up the cake, they called to tell us that they couldn't do the sea animals on top of the cake that we had asked for. We had to make the sea animals and green standup seaweed with fondant at home and made chocolate sea shells to decorate with. Very displeased but the cake was good. June 2019 - We previously ordered a cake in June 2014 with a picture printed on the top that was edible. We asked for the same style with a different picture. What we got was a picture printed on a piece of paper. We were very disappointed in quality after being told they would have no problem fulfilling the order. The cake was also supposed to be one side chocolate cake, one side white cake. We received marble so the person the cake was for never got to eat it. August 2019 - We ordered a cake in the shape of a 2 and two small smash cakes. The day before we were to pickup, we were called to say they couldn't do the shape of the 2. Again, when we placed the order we were told it would be fine and they could do it. At this point, we went out and bought a 2 cake pan, baked our own and got smash cakes from Price Chopper. While their cake is quite good, I do not recommend them for anything other the simplest of things. The quality of the cakes have declined and it appears that there are now issues with ordering. My only suggestion at this point is to have the person who is making the cakes, take the orders to prevent one person from promising something that can't be delivered. If this had been done, my family and I would've had the time to find someone else who could do what we wanted instead of being forced to take what we could to still pull off an event. read more
