I suppose that stock turnover is slow, and I am not too familiar with the concept of selling past-due groceries, but some were borderline spoiled. Add to all of that: the expired items were not even that deeply discounted! The blueberries were so outdated that they almost looked like raisins... Anyhow, for the convenience and access to imperishable items, you take the good with the bad. I was always taught to fill most of the cart with fresh produce, but that isn't really feasible at Carrow's. Maybe in the summer things are a bit better, but next time I will stock up at Kroger before heading to the lake. This store's low traffic in the winter makes being health-conscious a real chore.

Now, of course I just had to investigate for myself and for the people to decide. What I discovered: 1. Meijer's floral department is waaaay fresher! You can smell their fragrance throughout the store which will put you in the mood for a little 1 stop shopping. 2. They offered sale items, which if you don't usually use Gain laundry detergent "On Sale" will change your mind. 3. The prices on clothes was a shock and looked less of quality than Walmart. Walmart is really starting to suck but if you follow Business News it's explainable. 4. Meijer's had a person posted up at the entrance door to help guide you to the correct department if you're just running in and quickly out. 5. More staff visible to assist.
