Patients be warned...this is a major warning regarding dental fraud. This dental office told me…read morethat I needed invasive gum surgery due to gum disease. The surgery quote exceeded $3500 with insurance. I went to seek a second opinion with another periodontist and was told by him that my GUMS WERE FINE. He said that there were no issues regarding my gum health and that the intense surgery, involving bone grafts, recommended by Towne Centre Dental was TOTALLY UNNECESSARY. I was shocked, as I was fully prepared to proceed with this costly and highly invasive surgery because I was told by Towne Centre Dental that it was absolutely necessary and that not following through with the surgery could result in tooth loss. The second opinion periodontist reassured me that my gums were fine and that the diagnosis and suggested surgery by the periodontist from Towne Centre Dental was completely unnecessary. Now, this would be shocking enough. But, there's more. I was sharing my story with colleagues at work. After hearing my story, a teaching colleague said, "Wait, what dental office was this?" I told her that it was Towne Centre Dental. She then proceeded to tell me that the SAME THING HAPPENED TO HER, SEVERAL YEARS PRIOR!!! She was given the same diagnosis that I was and was told she needed the same gum surgery with bone grafts. She also happened to seek a second opinion and was told by that dentist that her gums were fine! So, it would appear that my case isn't an isolated incident. I couldn't be more disappointed in a dental practice. Giving a false diagnosis and telling the patient that they need painful, invasive, and very expensive surgery is evil and morally wrong. After looking for a new dentist closer to my new home, I found Smile On You Dentistry and Dr. Sooji Lee online. She had a lot of availability, and I was able to get an appointment within two days, which probably should have been my first warning sign. After arriving, the office was cold and unorganized, and I waited in the waiting room for close to 40 minutes after my appointment time. This was irritating, but I understand that offices can get busy and fall behind, so I didn't think much of it. After the technician took my X-rays, I sat in the exam room for a few minutes until Dr. Lee came in and introduced herself. She quickly looked at my X-rays and told me I had "severe" gum inflammation and that I needed a gum laser procedure to push them down and eliminate the inflammation. She also said I would need to come back for a deep cleaning. I looked at her in disbelief and could tell she was completely full of it. Then, the best part: she said we wouldn't be doing a cleaning today because it would just "spread the bacteria." She was EXTREMELY pushy about all of this, insisting I needed to do it ASAP, and that she was going to walk me to the front to pay for the procedure and schedule it. Yes, that's correct--she wanted me to pay for the procedure up front. The cost of the procedure was $1,800, not including the deep cleaning. I calmly told her I was going to think about everything and get back to them. She looked shocked and insisted that we needed to get it done immediately, but I said I needed to think it over. After that, you could tell she knew she wasn't going to get another scam sale, and she became unfriendly and cold. The entire situation was extremely bizarre and unacceptable, especially because, as someone in their 30s who gets cleanings every year, I knew there was no truth to her claims about the inflammation or the need for any procedure. I then checked Yelp and saw that many other 1-star reviews mentioned the EXACT same experience--what a scam, and they need to be reported to the BBB. The best part of all of this, three weeks later I drove 2 hours to my original dentist in my old city that I moved from, and she did new X-Rays and said my teeth and gums looked great other than slight tarter buildup that a cleaning would take care of. They did the cleaning right then as planned, and it was a totally normal dental visit with nothing out of the ordinary. I just want to warm everyone to please not go to Smile on You Dentistry in Lake Forest, or any of their other locations for that matter. There is no way they can keep up with this scam, I guarantee someone will sue or report them if they haven't already.

I did a ton of research when this happened to me because I was not only in a ton of pain but was missing half of my entire front tooth, and Harmony Dentistry had by far the best reviews, so I decided to go with them and I am so glad I did. When I made the appointment that night of the chip in complete hysteria, he moved appointments around and opened up the practice at 8 am the next day so I could come in as soon as possible and not miss my important class finals. The day I went in, they placed temporaries on two teeth to fix my smile and make me feel more comfortable, and Dr Ash made sure everything looked perfect and that my permanent teeth were ordered and ready. That experience completely changed the way I view going to the dentist and doctor standards in general. Since then, I have continued seeing him not just for cosmetic work, but for cleanings, cavities, and anything else I have needed. I now live in LA and still make the drive from Beverly Hills to Mission Viejo about twice a year because I genuinely love this place, the people, and Dr Ash. The environment is amazing, and I have never felt more comfortable or trusted a doctor more. He truly is one of a kind. He always follows up after appointments to check in, which is rare. For example, today I went in to get a cavity fixed, they gave me my favorite complimentary microbial mouthwash that is normally pricey and great for your gums, and Dr Ash personally called me after the work day to see how I was doing. Not only that, I have texted Dr Ash many times on multiple occasions with questions and concerns off the clock, and he always responds promptly and is incredibly helpful. On top of that, they have incredible technology for super easy X rays and seamless retainer and Invisalign tray making, and everything is extremely efficient.
