I used to deliver to this location when I worked for a car parts store. I followed one of their customers, who was doing a test drive, into their parking lot. They put on their reverse lights to back into a space, I stopped a few cars back, and instead of going into the space, they backed up INTO my delivery car at full speed. No slowing down at all. Too quickly for me to react. They popped out and were very apologetic, then rushed off to find the person in charge. Somebody that worked there came up to my passenger mirror, asked if I was okay, and then tried to "instruct" me on how to talk to the ambulance/police when they arrived so they wouldn't get in trouble. Come to find out later that the Lake County Auto Mall had let this person do a test drive without any kind of insurance. The front of my delivery vehicle was totaled, with the van that had damaged it only have a few scuffs on their back fender. They tried to convince me to not call anybody, but it was a company car (so I needed to call my boss and the police) and I was 4 months pregnant (so I needed to call an ambulance). The next day that van was still on their lot, backed into a space where you couldn't see the back side, with a percentage marked off. They've also been known to dump all the fluids they remove from cars into the forest/water behind their shop. I'm thankful that the place is an empty lot right now and I hope they never reopen. TL/DR at the end I know people are going to be looking to replace their car with their tax money. I saw on the marketplace that the LAKE COUNTY AUTO MALL is advertising cheap "reliable" cars. I wanted to share my experience with them so perhaps someone else could be spared the trouble. When I went to purchase a car, they had me sign a paper stating there would be a late fee for each day that your late on your payment. This is against the law. I was TWO days late on my payment, one of those days being a Sunday and they wanted to charge me $40, double the late fee allowable under lending laws. The paper they have you sign, they don't give you a copy with everything else. Likely because they know it's illegal. They also charged me a temp tag fee when I transferred plates, but I didn't even notice that until much later. I had the car for just a month when I took it in to the shop for an oil change and they showed me that there was oil in my coolant. Not knowing the severity of the situation, I only had them flush the coolant and moved on. It wasn't long when the car started overheating. I replaced a bunch of different parts on the car before finding out the head gasket was leaking. The guys running the lot were really nasty about it, saying the car was 100% perfect with no problems when I bought it. In fact, that's what they told me before I even bought the car. That's called misrepresentation. I have a feeling that what they're doing for many of the cars is clearing the codes and resetting the CEL. That's why for many customers, the CEL comes on shortly after leaving the lot. That's called fraud! One other thing, if you leave a negative review on their google page, they respond to them with lies. Some of them, they claim the car got repoed. On mine, they said I was late every month. I know it wasn't true for me and I imagine it is false for the others as well. I could be wrong, but I think posting in a public forum the credit worthiness or repossession of a customer is in violation of the Privacy Act. I have reported them to the FTC in hopes they can be held accountable for their inability to know and follow the laws they are bound by. I do hope they're investigated and shut down or made to follow the law. I do intend to send a letter to the State Attorney's office so they can investigate also. Until then, I worry about how many people they're defrauding and leaving them in a worse situation than they started out with. TL/DR Stay away from Lake County Auto Mall. They defraud customers by selling junk and break federal laws. read more

We bought a truck at this place and two days later the motor broke down and we took it back. The owner Dave supposedly put in a new one, he charged us $1,100 for the supposed new motor but come to find out he never put the new motor in. He is a big scammer and try's to steal money, please don't make the mistake of buying any cars from here. As you can see the reviews on here aren't so good. Save your money. They lured me to the dealership with a Craig's listing FOR A 7007 MERCEDES R350, which omitted that the steering and entire Airmatic suspension systems ($3,500) were both dead on arrival, that the front grill ($350.00) was destroyed (not shown on pictures on Craig's list), head gasket ($1,700) dead and smoking, front light and lower grill broken, gas meter nonfunctional, battery deep snoozing. After driving 200 miles from Jacksonville to this dealer, whose owner is David; he would not allow me to test drive the car....assuring me all the while that everything was ok with the car, I discovered posthumously that the car was complete junk, needing several thousand dollars or more to repair. Absolutely terrible. I went there to look at a 2005 chrome purple Chrysler 300. I told the guy on the phone I want the exact car that was in the picture ,he told me that was what he had and sent me more pictures of the cars interior . I called him back the day I was driving down . I showed up and the car was a weird mauve color, not the chrome purple and pinstriped model from rhe picture,it also had a standard grill rather than the faux bentley grill he shows the car as having ,the left side of the car was damaged and the right side was missing its mirror. He actually was stupid enough to ask if I wanted a test drive . I left to keep from physically beating the salesman. This place sucks. Dont do business with them. NEVER!! Dave at Lake County Auto Mall is a shady man and so is this whole business. I was bullied into putting a deposit down to hold a car so I could return on a specific date 10/2/2018 to make a decision. I am disabled and needed my spouse to test drive and help me decide IF the car so was running okay so we returned on 10/2/2018. Test drove the car and the check engine light was on and something was rubbing under the passenger side. I decided I did not want purchase the 2008 Nissan Sentra so I asked for my money back. Dave was in a meeting so I came back the same day expecting my cash deposit. Since Dave is the money person who gave me a receipt that states "Deposit fully refundable on 10/2/18 " he told me he will submit for a check to be sent to me and he would call me. He never called me so when I called him on 10/11 he said he is not giving me the money back. He told me that I said I was buying the car on 10/2 but that was his first lie. Then he said he could have sold the car while he waited for me to come back and test drive so my deposit is held for possible loss of a sale. After few brief and passionate exchanges. He said he is not giving me the money back and he sold the car. Really? I said "I drove past and the car is still in the front of the lot " (his second lie) he said well okay, "I have a deposit on it now." I pity that fool, the car has problems. This is going to be civil matter because I have the receipt with his signature.
