We enjoyed all their trails, park store, and exploring the grounds outside the mission. The park is very dog friendly; however, the rodeo was taking place when we visited and the fireworks were so loud, they upset our dog. We ended up not staying the second night because we heard the firework show would be even more intense. I would suggest including that information on the park website. Other than that, we sincerely enjoyed our time at the park.

Drove over from Houston in 3 hours, roads are pretty good…read more Arrived at office and they apologized but campsite 15 which I had carefully picked out had a possible water leak that might mean a work crew would be digging it up. They offered several others and we chose #1. The manager in the office gave us a $25 refund for our trouble which was very nice. All campsites in the Karankawa loop are full service sites with 50 and 30 amp electric hookups and all are pull through. We visited at the end of a hot dry summer so brown grass and trees without many leaves left. Typical of most state parks there was a picnic table, fire ring and lantern hook; there was an open fire burn ban due to the conditions. Watch out for pet's feet as well as yours if you walk barefoot as those prickly weed spores are in the grass! The septic system looks pretty new and was so close to my drop point I only used one sewer line completely compacted. Water pressure seemed good, around 60ps Park roads are good, the only drawback is the park is bisected by a state highway so you do hear road noise but it is less at night when traffic is light. Restrooms are older but in great condition, men's room in the camping loop had 2 toilets, 2 urinals and 2 showers which is fine as there aren't a ton of campsites. Camp hosts were friendly. The old mission is the big historical attraction here. It is free but only open from 8:30 to 4:30. The park has trails that are pretty easy and well maintained, there is an area where you can put canoes or kayaks into the San Antonio river. There is small bird blind with several feeders in front that the staff kept filled with fresh bird food while we were there. Try to see the green jay if you can, fairly rare this far north! Goliad is nearby and has plenty to offer. The old county courthouse is beautifully restored.

The bathrooms were clean, and each campsite had a nice cover over the table. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. However, the hiking trails were really just walking trails and weren't that exciting. We were also woken up every morning at 5am because the duck hunters would unload near our site and walk down to the lake. If you did manage to fall asleep you were soon woken up to gunshots starting around 6:30 for hunting. The first night, right at dusk, we were attacked by some sort of nasty flying bug.. I think maybe industrial terminates because they came from the ground. It was terrorizing. But didn't happen the second night. And the Javelina's were really cool to see, but an absolute nightmare for our guardian dog. They do get close to the campsite, even if people are out, and our dog declared them as public enemy number one. So we were always on edge and looking for them before he caught wind of them. If you are looking for a chill spot to just hang and camp, I recommend. But if you are looking for more activities in a park, this honestly wasn't the place. The kids activities that were scheduled for the Saturday were cancelled, which was disappointing.

You drive through in one direction with plenty of parking available throughout the park. It's wheelchair accessible and dog friendly, which I really appreciate. There's a boat launch with trailer parking and docks, fishing areas, a pirate ship playground with a splash pad, covered picnic tables, an observation deck, a basketball court, and a large covered pavilion with a kitchen and bathrooms. The city hosts events there, and it's also available for private rentals. I love stopping along the waterfront to watch the dolphins play and ships sail in and out of the port.

We looked around Houston and everything was booked or rained out! So we found Goose Island and it had decent reviews! We decided to book a campsite for one night- our campsite was 201. When we arrived my goodness!! I've never seen so many deer - one minute outside of the park, there were about 5 deers hanging out- not scared of me or my car or the noises. It was beautiful! When we entered the park, we first was looking for our campsite and drove in many circles- it was in the "wooded area" so it was a bit hard to find! When we arrived it was around 3pm And we started setting up camp. I am thankful the parking was right in front of the campsite but also that whole area I think 201-204 Is shared. I was lucky it was Christmas so no one else Booked the area next to us but it wouldn't have been as fun if others did! We stayed overnight- everything went well as planned! One thing I didn't like the restrooms were driving distance or a longer walk away but this was an amazing weekend getaway for us! In the morning we checked out the pier area. It was nice and very different than our campsite area! Highly recommend this park even for a daytime park!

Cole Park is an excellent amenity to Corpus living!…read more It is located just South of McGee Beach where Shoreline Blvd turns into Ocean Dr. Most visitors and tourists ignore it because it is not the beach, but once you get familiar with the park, you'll see all it has to offer. And it is quite large and currently under redevelopment with more improvements I remember when lockdowns ended in 2020 and public amenities became accessible again. This was one of the first parks I started to frequent again. I often go downtown for dining and work events, and find myself going for walks here afterwards.

There is a group of people who walk/jog in the early mornings here. The park opens at 6 AM. The part that is paved near the soccer fields and the playground is well lit. But the part that is closer to the ponds towards the back of the park is not. So if you do decide to walk here in the early morning, for safeties concerns, I always kept to the front half of the park. But the dog park is on a whole other level! Between the small and dog park it has to be a little over an acre. It is extremely well shaded with lots of trees. There are obstacles for your dog to play on. They have a fresh source of water as well as a self filling water station. I absolutely love that they have a pretty significantly long natural trail. My joints don't love pavement but they do love natural trails and oftentimes parks they are overlooked or paved over. This park is a gem for the people of Rockport and those who visit.

Labonte Brothers Park! This is a sun bleached stretch of…read morepark just north of Corpus Christi where you can go and possibly fish under a bridge. The park is basically a turn around next to the Nueces River, that goes around I-37. The park has been messed up for a while as they go and replace the bridge that goes over the Nueces. They're making it a higher bridge, and have the whole place torn up. There's no trees or any shade. The park offers a bunch of picnic tables that overlook the river. If you're a fisher, it'd be a good place to grill up some river catfish. There are no restrooms here. No running water. Dogs are welcome here. You can probably run them off a leash, as I hardly ever see anyone here. Just make sure they don't jump in the river.

People camp out here and all. This is the area where the famous Nueces River ends and empties into the Gulf of Mexico. It runs alongside the back part of the park. Passing by here you can see the number of people walking around and enjoying the sounds of the river as it makes its way over the final embankment and into the bay.

There's plenty of dedicated parking, and the marsh nearby the entrance has some cool stuff on how Rockport is a migratory bird and butterfly refuge, where all sorts of winged creatures come to roost due to the tranquil nature of this seaside town. There's always a variety of lizards and bugs around here too. Be sure to bring some bug spray! The pathway is about ten feet wide, and paved- so it's perfect for walking your dog or riding your bike or even roller skates! The pathway is usually picked up well, so it's beautiful. There were a lot of trees down after Harvey, but the city has been working on picking those up and restoring the trail to its former glory. There's not much at the end of this pathway, so I turn around and head back along the mile to the start. It's a very nice walk, and I recommend checking it out if you have some spare time.

On the nature trail I appreciated the stops explaining the plants, birds and hummingbirds. We also spotted a deer hiding in the shrubs. One of the visitors showed us that he snapped a photo of an alligator hiding in the water. Be sure to bring insect repellent since this is a marsh.

It has a small parking area at a trail head, and a nice wooden bridge that takes you over a marsh. The Thule Marsh is a tranquil, placid body of water that looks like it might contain alligators. There are lots of birds here with long legs and sharp beaks. Fortunately, there are signs that tell you what you're looking at- very informative! There's also hummingbird feeders, and places for squirrels to hang out. The wetlands were rather untouched by the hurricane- the nature trails were closed, but the bridge and all the info signs were unscathed! There was a piece of the Wal-Mart gas station in the marsh, but that'll get fished out eventually. The place was picked up, and a safe place to relax in the shade or ride a bike!
