If I could take more stars away I would. My husband and I were traveling through La Grande Oregon…read morein our motorhome when our check coolant light came on. We pulled into this Freightliner dealer. We went in and spoke with the service guy, Hector. My husband told him what was going on. Hector told him they were too busy and we should go out and check our coolant level. He said if the coolant was full it was probably just a sensor. Well, we have no idea what we are looking at, And from what we could see our reservoirs were full. Since we couldn't get any help from them, we drove on. About an hour later, we overheated on the freeway. We had blown a head gasket. Three days of hell later, we paid $2000 to have it towed to a Cummins dealer in Boise Idaho. Our motorhome is on a Freightliner chassis. But because of their laziness, and unwillingness to help us, we are out countless thousands of dollars. This could have been avoided had they only had enough courtesy to walk outside and check out coolant level. Regarding your reply. It was 7:30 in the morning. There were no customers in your service department. Your mechanics were seen walking around, some drinking coffee. We weren't expecting an immediate repair. Just five minutes of someone's time to check our coolant level. Had you done that, none of this would have happened. We would have stayed put and waited for repairs. We are Frieghtliner customers. We have dealt with Reno and Las Vegas Frieghtliner. And when we go there, their service advisor comes outside and takes a look (even when they're busy), And if it's something they're not sure of, they call the mechanic out to take a look. It's called customer service. Something La Grande is lacking. And now, our motorhome is eight hours away with astronomical damage. You can make excuses all you want. But you put us in danger. Sitting on the shoulder of a highway for seven hours waiting for a tow truck that never came. And you've cost us untold thousands of dollars. I'm not buying your excuses.

My wife and I planned a trip from Morro Bay, California to Wallowa Lake State Park in Oregon…read more Enroute, I got a instrument warning that my coolant was low. We are driving a 36' Cummings powered motorhome with a tow vehicle. I wasn't too concerned about the warning as we had just had the coach serviced. I also looked at what I thought was the coolant reservoir and did add about 4 ounces to it. I really thought it was just a sensor problem. At any rate, when the warning comes on it goes to an engine warning and will turn the engine off. We made it to Winnemucca Nevada. I searched for a mechanic and found one in Caldwell, Idaho. We talked and scheduled an appointment for the next day. I texted him all of the coach' specs. We made it to Caldwell and checked in to a wonderful rv Park there. It was 2pm and I was awaiting the call/ mechanic. He never called or came by. I then contacted Freightliner Northwest in La Grande, Oregon. Hector (front desk man) told me that possibly they could look at it in the afternoon but for sure in the morning. We made it to their business and they did say it would be in the morning. They also graciously offered to let us stay in their well lighted parking lot for the night. The next morning at 7:30am., a mechanic named Zack knocked on our door and said they were ready. I explained everything to Zack and he in short order examined all of the cooling system with a 25 minute pressure test, tightened all cooling lines and the cooling reservoir that I put coolant in? Turns out that is the power steering fluid reservoir! He totally flushed that out. We also talked to the service manager, Andy about replacing our two starting batteries as they've been in the coach since new (2013). Zack also was able to update the software on the ECM after running a full diagnostic test. While we were waiting for all of this Hector provided us with directions to several business' we were interested in. What can I say? This was totally 5 star service! Everyone in this clean well organized business was friendly and very professional. I just don't see how anyone under these circumstances could have received better treatment. Thank you all!!

Bill is an absolute hero. A true stand-up guy. If you have any sort of mechanical problem and are…read moreanywhere near him, he is the guy to call! My road trip began in Chicago Illinois, and meandered for almost 2,500 Miles through some of the most beautiful places in the country. As I was approaching Baker City, Oregon, I found out that my gas was low. As I approached the first gas station that I could find, I noticed my car was making a horrible noise and it just got louder. I turned off the car and filled up the tank. When I started up the engine, the noise was even louder. Upon looking under the hood, I found out that the serpentine belt was askew. I assessed that this was the cause of the noise. I checked at the automotive shop across the street. They had nothing to help me. I jumped to my phone to see where I could get a serpentine belt for my 2003 Volvo XC70 in a small town in SE Oregon. First was NAPA Auto Parts... nope. Then I tried Carquest. The guy I talked to there said that he would have to track down the part, but that he might know a guy who could fix it. He connected me with Bill Steele of East Side Diesel. Bill had been at the Carquest picking up a part for another job. He came over to where I was at, checked out my car. He informed me that not only was the belt bad, but that also another bearing was bad. He found both parts and replaced them within 2 hours from the moment that I first spoke with him. He did an amazing job and only charged $200 for parts and labor. I felt like this was very fair. After all of this, he then left to fix the previously mentioned job. I can not stress how wonderful my experience with Bill and East Side Diesel was. He has 5 star reviews because he is that great.
