    Feeding the deer and goat

I used to come here when I was younger and absolutely loved it, decided to go back recently and it was still so much fun as an adult

    April D.

First time ever coming to this park and WOW it by far was one of my favorite experiences ever and I wish I lived closer because I'd be there everyday. We were the only people in the park since we came during "off" season for them so it was just amazing. There are SOO MANY different types of deer you can hand feed/pet. There are Elk, a donkey, sheep, goats, alpaca and more. The pricing for this experience is actually significantly lower than I expected $9/adult. I honestly would pay much more. The food they provide is also reasonable, I went with the Large bag of food for $5 and it was worth it. Lasted us a couple hours even when one of the deer ripped it (greedy!) I would highly recommend this place, it was more awesome than I could put into words. I will definitely be back anytime I find myself in town again.

Still of peacock since Yelp never adds my videos.

This is a biased review. I've been coming here every year since I was single digit, and had my first heart warming animal experience here, so I'll tell you my experience, and then I'll add some cold hard feedback. Just off the highway, turn southbound, and you'll see the signs. Down the gravel road, stop into the shop. You can pay to fish for rainbows, bullheads, channel cat, white bass, carp, largemouth, rock bass, bluegill, crappies, perch, muskies, and northern pike in four different lagoons. $8 for an adult, $5 for children, fish all you want. Boats are fine, no license is needed, and they can even support camping. I've never done, so call ahead. The reason I come is the deer park. As of this writing, admission is $9/adult, and we get two big bags- $10 together. I recommend putting it under your shirt, and getting a leg of the land (the lot out back is HUGE), before feeding anyone. They have deer, llamas, goats, sheep, elk, peacocks, emus, rheas, miniature donkeys, and a Scottish Highlander. The Scotty is an adult, not AS cute as a calf, but he's a charmer! Of course, these are still wild animals. They don't jump or climb on you, but if you leave your food out for them, they will go for it! Animals in cages are used to being fed peanuts- fingers look awful close, so be aware of what's happening! Also, which I shouldn't have to say, be nice to the animals. Some animals are anxious/nervous, and many babies are very cautious. I was at the park once and deer were following a woman. Huh, who would have thought? She got mad, kicked gravel at them and screamed at them. The situation was resolved, but it wasn't pleasant. There are animals here. They won't attack you, chase you, or hurt you- but they will come up to you. They will want to be fed, and some are nervous for pets. If you feel uncomfortable, just walk away. You can figuratively walk through them. These aren't monsters, just gently walk and they'll scoot! This is a magical place to supervise a child. I find the goats enchanting. It seems every four or five years, I find a kid (kid is the term for a baby goat) who I bond with. Who doesn't care solely about food, who follows me around, cuddles, climbs on top of me (I sit on the ground lol), and just loves me. This is a great way to show a child how gentle and innocent animals are. Zoos show exotic animals at a distance, and many children skip the discovery channel. But this is real life, real pets, and pure innocence from furry friends. So, past all the bliss, some reality. This isn't a mega park, or some corporate affair. It's a gravel road. An old building. Don't expect lavish resort, think purpose completed adequately. There isn't a fancy restroom with automatic sinks and driers. Out front, there is a manual sink and soap. Out back, they use fences and chains. They aren't gross, but it's basic. The back lot is gravel. If it was grass, the deer would eat it all, leaving dirt- and it would erode very quickly- so gravel it is. Come here with the expectation of under $15/person, and having as much time as you want, direct contact, with over 200 animals, and you won't be disappointed.

This place is what it is. It is a park with some deer and other animals - goats, ostriches, peacocks, etc. most of the deer roam around and the others are fenced in. About 1 hour max is what you will likely spend here. It is inexpensive overall for an attraction around this area and a good place for young children to get up close to these animals. We bought a large bag of peanuts to feed the animals for $5, lasted about 15 minutes between two kids. The place was overall pretty clean from all the animal poo with lots of fresh hay around.

I these types of places. So when I came across this place, I was excited. At first we were the only ones there..and I was excited we would have the animals to ourselves...until we stepped into the "ring" and they saw the brown paper bag. The other review was not kidding. They freakin' love their peanuts. And they will nip your shirt, your pants, even your ass to get them. It was like a stampede towards us. At one point, I finally saw a family with brown bags on the other side and I booked it over to them...deer in hot pursuit. I looked like a comedy movie, I'm sure. I managed to blend those deer with the others and pass them off to the other family like a curse. Then I was able feed emu and peacocks and Pygmy goats. I stuck a peanut in my mouth to turn my camera on by the emus and it stole it right from my mouth! It was fun. There are several food bag choices. I suggest the $5 bag. It's the largest and you won't piss the animals off as quickly. We were even able to go back in and buy more food for them.

Super cute place to take kids. The deer, goats, llamas, peacocks etc are all really friendly. Hold on to your bag of food because they really will steal it, or rip the bottom off.

My whole family enjoyed feeding the deer and llamas, and just being in an open space with the animals.

Sharing my experience with Duke Petting Farm to save you from having to go through the same thing…read more I was having a big cowboy themed party for my boys joint birthday party. So I thought how fun would it be to have a cowboy horse & a petting farm. I Talked with Deb before even booking the party to make sure all the kids would be able to ride the pony. At first I asked for a horse because most of the kids would be around 10-11 years old. I was told a horse would be too hard for the little kids but she would send me a large pony that would be perfect for my age range. I told her no one would be over 120 pounds. She even asked me to put it in an email and I did. I am sharing that email in the photo section. I confirmed this with the owner several times before the party. Fast forward to party day when the problems all began. She sent 2 girls to work my one hour party. The one girl that ran the petting bunny area was EXTREMELY rude to all the little kids. Even rolling her eyes at them when they asked what kind of balloons she could make. She yelled at them multiple times when kids 3 years old were petting the baby bunnies. To a point of me and several parents going in the bunny pen to help. It was so embarrassing that people at my party were being treated this way. Several of the bunnies kept escaping. She yelled at the 3 year old birthday boy when he went to get a second handful of food from the food bucket they bring. She said "you already fed the animals." We tried to talk to her to help change her bad mood but it was the entire time and super disappointing as this was a kids party. The other thing I would like to warn you about is that TONS of the kids were turned away from riding the pony. The girl working said they were too tall. One of the girls was a tiny 10 year old weighing no more that 65 pounds. If height was a requirement I should have been told that before the party. Like I said I discussed this with her multiple times. So only a few little kids got to ride over and over. When you pay over $500 for someone to bring animals to your party you expect at least kind service. I contacted the owner before coming to social media. She said the girl working the party was only 14 years old. While she did say she would talk to her she made all kinds of excuses. I think it would be better to have an adult working something like this. She told me the bigger pony they had used at a different party that day and had problems with so they switched to this one. I understand things happen in life but those are not a customers problem. While I couldn't come to an agreement with the owner I thought I could at least warn all my friends or anyone thinking to book for a party! Stay far away. I wished I would have booked somewhere else. After having the party I had several people recommend Tyler's exotic animals. They said he is much more kid friendly. Just super disappointed that so few kids got to ride the pony & that the other worker that ran the balloons/petting area treated everyone so rotten. It was an awful experience and I have booked lots of big things for events. Never have I had to deal with this kind of unprofessionalism. Truly disappointed.

I took my 10 year old out here for some riding for her birthday, the offer lessons for a fair price and they also do this thing called "Mini-Mondays" where younger kids get to do fun activities and dive into the agricultural world. After a couple of hours of fun in the sun and with the animals, we all sat at one of the picnic tables and brought some snacks and cupcakes. In the middle of singing happy birthday to my 3 YO niece, this lady walks up to us and starts yelling at us and telling us we have to leave and that we can't have "a birthday party". The toddler starts crying. We are never coming back here again, none of us knew we can't sing happy birthday at a petting zoo, none of us knew we can't use a picnic table, there were no signs saying that. Even if she needed to tell us (paying customers) to leave, she could've talked to one of the adults instead of interrupting a child's happy birthday song and making her cry. We live 10 minutes away and we would've come back here if it wasn't for this rude woman. Apparently this is the owner, and she was being rude to her staff throughout the day as well. All of the other staff we came across were friendly and none of them told us we couldn't use a picnic table to sing happy birthday for the child. I still can't believe how rude this woman was to her customers and staff.
