I have shopped at many record shops, large and small and this was one of my favorites thus far. It is a bit hidden but follow your map and make a stop if in Baton Rouge, you will not be disappointed.

Major ones are nice because they usually have lots of nice gifts, mugs and bookmarks. But I am also a fan of local bookstores with focus on local authors and dedicated shop keepers. I also love all the Little Free Libraries that are popping up in neighborhoods everywhere. JUST GIVE ME ALL THE BOOKS OKAY!? But I digress. This Barnes & Noble is really nice and large and there are inviting cozy chairs scattered throughout just beckoning you to sit and read a chapter or two. There's a little cafe here that serves coffee and tea and some sandwiches. I saw a book club meeting here and I thought what a great idea that was. I picked up some gifts for my fellow bibliophile friend and of course got myself a few things too. What?! It was for research. Yeah, research. :)

I visit this bookstore to see what is being offered in the literary world. Also they have a FULL…read moresection of magazines for every interest. There is a music department with CDs and now Vinyl is back. There is a Starbucks attached also. I was unable to find the particular vinyl she wanted and the guy who was working tried his best to find it at other record stores in the area. I didn't catch his name, but he was friendly and willing to help me find it. Although I was unable to find what my fiancée wanted, I did me two vinyls I've been looking for. One of them was Out of the Cellar by Ratt. I use to listen to that album all the time as a kid. The other vinyl I found was Back Home Again by John Denver. I would put that album in my top 5 favorite albums. Besides selling vinyls, they did have guitars, drums, bass and pianos for sale. Really nice record store and I hope to stop by again if I'm ever in the Baton Rouge area.

If you read the two less than five star reviews, you'll see that these people are bit on the…read moreridiculous side. One person took all stars because they didn't have what he was looking for. It's a place selling records, most of which haven't been made in 30 years or more. It's like leaving a bad review for a used car dealership because they don't have the Ferrari you're looking for. The other guy was complaining about prices. I don't know where these folks are getting their information from. Although he was complaining about masks not being worn and we all see how that turned out. That being said, I think the place is terrific. There isn't anything else like it in Baton rouge. The place is in New Orleans have less of a selection and the prices are even more expensive. John, the owner, is very kind and polite. He goes out of his way to make sure folks are able to get the vinyls they want whenever he gets them. Again, it's not like he's ordering this stuff from a catalog of new goodies. It's all vintage stuff. I've purchased several records from him over the last year or so without any issue. In fact, I just left the store where I purchased another one. Staff is friendly. The selection is great for this type of store. Literally no issues here whatsoever. Swing by there and check it out yourself.

The owner has stuff so overpriced that I wouldn't recommend anybody purchasing anything from the store. Most items you can find on eBay cheaper with shipping. I went to the fair and there was a Virgin Mary marked for $30. Yes, she was vintage. However upon closer look her head was decapitated and glued back. Not even a smooth glue job noticeably broken. I offered 5/$10 for it which is reasonable for a significantly damaged item. The owner's response was it was originally $75 so he would only go down to $25 seriously? Go ahead and keep decapitated Mary and I wish you the best on selling it for $25. Owner is obviously just in it for the money Or completely delusional you pick.
