The area is perfect for a run, walk, hike with pup, or for an extended bike ride on the trail, heading north of Puetz Road. If you enter via 51st, there's a large parking lot closer to the nice newer kid's playground (not to be confused with the handicap accessible Kayla's Playground, nearby at Franklin Woods). There's also a small covered picnic area, bathrooms, and a frisbee golf course. The frisbee golf course just got paved "tee off areas", and I saw volunteers tending to them, and a few "golfers" out on a recent warm day. You can also access from the Milwaukee County Sports Complex. Froemming Park is top notch, and a nice example of adapting park use for local residents.

We walk here often on weekend mornings, and enjoy a walk through the park, and a sit under the Magic Grove sculpture, by artist Nancy Metz White. There is a small playground here, a field house, and remnants of a time when parks were thriving. The Farmer's Market here is small, but nice. This is a nice neighborhood and a nice little park.

I've played kickball here in the past and the diamond is one of the nicer ones in the city. This park is a nice selling point if you are looking for a fun gathering space with plenty of activities for the kiddos. There is a lot of wide open green space, a community gathering center, clean restrooms, a playfield for softball/kickball, and they even manage to have a few concerts in the summer months!

I hadn't planned on going to this playground, heck, I had never heard of it before... But, our plans to head to the zoo got foiled by the massive lines from the free Senior day. So, I opened Yelp, searched for playground, and this beauty popped up. Yelp, you saved the day, yet again! The little kids side (2-5) is unique, but in a positive way. I feel like most little kids areas are the same basic=boring setup. It sorta reminded me of the old woman who lived in a shoe, with a sloped roofline and misshapen/unbalanced look. This area had ringing music notes, a track to run little cars/balls down, a crawling tube, a spinning giant glass marble, on top of the slides, climbing ladders, etc. Plus, there was a dedicated little kids swing set, with two toddler swings, two regular swings, and then the much loved yet hard to find toddler/parent combo swing!!! The big kids side includes a four seat seesaw, an accessible swaying "boat", multiple climbing walls, a standing gravity spinner, five slides, "concessions stand", a dedicated big kids swing set with accessible swing, and more. All of this included old shade trees, overlooked the diamond, and was a short walk from the bathrooms. Kudos to West Allis for installing a truly great and unique playground.

The conditions created by this event were completely out of character for our neighborhood and inappropriate for a small city park. The large crowds, excessive noise, and overall level of disruption had a significant impact on nearby residents and families. Of particular concern was the volume of traffic moving through our neighborhood. Numerous vehicles were speeding on residential streets, creating dangerous conditions for children, pedestrians, and families. The situation raised serious safety concerns for those who live in the area. I was also unable to bring my children to the park because of the environment that had developed there. The park was crowded with adults engaging in behavior that made it unsuitable for children, including loud music, profanity, smoking, and what appeared to be public intoxication. Public parks should remain safe and welcoming spaces for families, yet the atmosphere associated with this event prevented many residents from using the park as intended. In addition, I was surprised to learn that admission to the park required a $50 entrance fee, along with an additional $10 parking fee. As a Glendale resident, I have always understood Richard E. Maslowski Park to be a public park available for residents to enjoy. Being denied entry because I was unwilling or unable to pay these fees was frustrating and left me questioning how a public park could become inaccessible to the very residents whose tax dollars help support it. The person in charge, Terrell, was extremely rude and dismissive throughout our interaction. When I attempted to explain my concerns, he was unwilling to listen and did not give me an opportunity to be heard. His attitude made the experience more frustrating and left me feeling that my concerns were not take seriously. He is definitely not someone I would expect the city to have representing it. His behavior was unprofessional and did not reflect the level of courtesy and respect that Glendale residents should receive I urge the City to review the planning, permitting, security, traffic management, and enforcement measures associated with this event. Future events should be managed in a way that protects public safety, minimizes disruption to surrounding neighborhoods, and preserves reasonable access to public parks for Glendale residents.

This is an excellent park to take all ages of children. Close to the Oak Leaf Trail, this space…read moreoffers swings, slides, bridges, climbing bars, interactive panels, and many more creative options for kids to play, learn, and burn off some energy! There is plenty of open space between the play areas for kids to run around, and the benches and picnic tables offer a chance to sit and share a snack or lunch. If you visit the park during the day, don't forget your sunscreen as there are no trees to provide shade. This is a great addition to the Glendale community, and as a resident, I'm looking forward to going more often to enjoy music, the beer garden, and, of course, more time with family.

There is frequently a food truck or two parked on the perimeter. I've visited a couple times and there are a lot of people during nice weather. There is definite need for available restrooms - there are a couple bathrooms, they were just locked (even though the signs said they were open). Luckily, we found 1 port-a-potty at the far edge of a baseball diamond. The pond also needs some love - there is quite a bit of smelly algae, and I imagine the dissolved oxygen levels are low due to high water temperatures, especially during the summer. Not sure how well the fish are doing, and it is HEAVILY fished. However, it was nice to see so many families enjoying the pond and I love seeing parents teach their kids how to fish. As an ecologist, it is sad to see Honey Creek is still confined to the concrete channel that runs through the park. But the ducks and geese seem pretty happy. A solid 3.5ish stars, will be back next time I'm in the area.

Fox Brook park has the best trails to walk. I've seen couples, singles, old and young enjoying the…read morewalk with variety of intensions. I found so many flowers that I haven't seen before. I took botany in college so I'm familiar with the most of plants in Wisconsin. So when I have scratching my head with unfamiliar flora, that means something. People swim, fish, letting dogs swim, pedal boating, swimming for open water companions, enjoying carefree outdoor activities in the park. It's wonderful place to relax and enjoy nature.

This time I came to test out the full expanse of the water with my paddle board. I came with my brother who had his kayak and fished. He caught a rainbow trout (and released). We stayed on the water for almost 4 hours - the water was nice and clean and it was busy but not crazy. The beach area was definitely a popular busy zone but most the people were in the designated swimming area versus the open lake. Just a great time and will be back! If looking to grab a spot on the dry land I would recommend arriving before 11am- that's when it started filling up more.

The river bank is low and the river easily accessible via canoe or kayak. It is a favorite of the fisherman amongst us. On the northeast end of the park, you'll find a single tennis court, and though a net is up, only rarely will you see it in use. Up hill from the river, road side, there is a picnic shelter and playground, which on the other hand is frequently in use by little ones, Mom and/or Dad close at hand. Dog lovers can rejoice, your dogs are welcome here, though must be leashed. Owners are in fact frequently seen walking the grounds with their fury friends or having a game of catch. Nature enthusiast will find the trees truly grand and mystical. If you come at the right time, you might even be able to catch a glimpse of the resident white squirrel playing in the branches. Best to come and experience for yourself. Lots to see and explore. Take your time and open yourself up to a very unique experience. Don't forget to look beyond the surface, exercise your imagination and all your senses. A lot of history here. Enjoy.

Rainbow park, times have changed. For those who did not know, let me tell you some history about…read morethat big hill you see. This place used to be landfill a long time ago and they filled the place up and now it's a park. As a little boy I used to come here a lot. It's a nice and quite little park. There's just a few swings and some sand to play in and of course, there is that kiddy pool for the summer. I probably pee'd in it, haha... Next to the soda machine used to be a pay phone, you know? The one that you put in one finger at a time and turned it in a circular motion. Ah, rotary phones were cool, not! Soda in that machine was 25 cents and they had a machine inside the building that made a cup of chicken broth soup, hot coco or, coffee. Yes, no Starbucks back then. In the summer you can expect to see men dressed up in uniforms playing baseball. You can also play tennis. They have two courts here. Hopefully the nets are new. The most fun is probably during the winter months when snow is on the hill. Take a sled, grease it down with left over lard from Christmas dinner and your in for a joy of a life time.
