We were very pleased to have found a local to do our home renovations. The owner, Shawn,…read moreconfidently stated that he could accomplish every item on our list and asked for a deposit. I would not recommend giving him any money until the job is completed to your satisfaction. He allowed 3 men we had never met into our home (when we weren't home) to begin a job that we had discussed doing last on our list. We arrived about an hour after they did to find our living room dismantled and painting happening inside our home when he was supposed to only be doing work in our garage. Our entire home smelled like pot and the job they did was actually terrible. We had a day of no one showing and after a week of sporadic work being done, I personally spent about 15 hours painting my own home just to get them out of our house. He spoke like he was knowledgeable about things he clearly did not have any clue about and we ended up with a door ordered than we can't do anything with. We canceled the other jobs he was supposed to do and found someone else to complete them. Every single aspect of dealing with Shawn was unprofessional and a total nightmare. The only positive thing we can say about our experience with Shawn is that his employee Tim showed up every day and did his best work even when it was clear Shawn should've been the one handling all of the issues. "Would not recommend" does not quite cover our feelings about Shawn and his company. Would not wish this experience on anyone.

The first company did a great job with the staining, but what they used to seal the table never dried, and was rubbing off. I called Island Wood Werx and explained the problem and they said they could fix it. They took the table to remove the clear top coat and redo it with another clear top coat that would seal. They said it would only take a week, but it ended up taking several weeks and I got concerned. They finally returned the table but instead of the clear top coat, they used a gel stain paint. You can not see the wood anymore and the product scratches and looks terrible. I am so disappointed. I also wonder why the individual had me make the payment out to Treva Brotherton and not Island Wood Werx, but I just wanted them out of my house and I paid them. I paid $1600 and they ruined my table. VERY UNHAPPY!

This company was great from beginning to end. Not only excellent communication from supervisors but…read morethe workers actually acted like they wanted to be there. Always a smile & a wave but they worked steadily (couldn't tell if they ever went on break or took lunch). This impressed me--the supervisor saw the city trash truck coming & pulled our trash container out where the truck could get at it easily. They also made sure that the mailbox was not blocked. I have never seen companies do this before. I also haven't seen a company where you didn't give a down payment & you paid at the end. They pay for the wind mitigation as well. The work took 2 days. One thing--it was 6 months from the paperwork to beginning because customer waiting list (they informed us about this but this was to be expected). The good news is that the customer is locked in at the price at that time (no unexpected "surprises" at the end. Hope this review helps anybody & that they get the same results like I did. Sorry for the "novel"-length review.
