I found the idea of carrying a wad of cash into and out of a place with the express purpose of giving me cash a bit anxiety-inducing. LA Currency isn't in a fancy neighborhood, but I felt perfectly safe. Once inside I was quickly assisted by a woman who was efficient and professional. We went in this morning to exchange money. I was selling Indonesian Rupiah from our trip to Bali and purchasing for our trip to Europe. (We kept some as souvenirs-see photo). I told my son, that when i calculated it at home it was $27+. We were given $12. When I got home, I looked at the receipt and it says Taiwan New Dollar. I just called, the same woman who helped me at the window and was polite, answered the phone and refused to give me the manager. She kept repeating very loudly "It was Tawainese Dollars". I told her I'm holding one in my hand that we kept. I've never bought or have been given a Taiwanese Dollar, but I have bought Indonesian Rupah and still have them. She told me to come in and she'll show me. At that point I felt as though there would be no resolve I told her, "You'll just change them out!" I don't live nearby either, so my time and gas would be more than $15, I worked in banking and if a customer called or returned stating their money was incorrect, the manager would count the till. Each bill is monitored, so that should be easy to do. There are also cameras in their business. I attempted to resolve the matter and was treated unprofessionally, she was refusing to give me a manager, and held a rude and "I'm right, you're wrong" disposition!!! Mistakes happen, that's what makes humans different than robots. The small difference in money doesn't matter as much as how I was treated while knowing I was definitely being ripped off!!! And being called a liar. When dealing with money, there should be trust, respect, transparency, and professionalism from both the service employee and customer. Update: the response was exactly what was expected. Taking no responsibility and not willing to count the money or look at the video. From the attitude, reactions, and responses. Shame on the owner (maybe dad) for not having any customer service skills and willingness to do the extra work to verify...I would LOVE to view the video!!! Manvel, I think the elite status proves just how honest I am! If it had been reversed and I owed you $15, I would have contacted you as well. I am a government employee and pride myself on honesty.
