There are some parking lots nearby that charge by either the 15 minute or a 20 minute increments. On our visit we had a few transactions so we needed a little bit more time but another guy came in while we were there and was in and out really quickly so if you have a Single transaction that might be a cost-effective parking solution for you when you're going to the spot. They were really friendly and transparent. He even tried to give us small bills when he could. We weren't aware of the two forms of ID requirement with transactions over $1000 but he even offered to print out a copy of our passport if we could have somebody at home send us a photo of it. This place is fantastic! The exchange rates are extremely fair and the employees are super friendly and helpful. I will *never* buy foreign currency from my bank again. I was able to bypass the $5 ATM fee Wells Fargo would've charged each time for withdrawing €uros in Italy and France and avoided the terrible exchange rate when pre-purchasing at one of their bank locations. Parking: ample free parking since it's located in a strip plaza. There are also metered spots on Kittridge St. People: all kinds. While I was there exchanges were made for Mexican Pesos, Iraqi Dinar, etc. Perks: it's a small unit located in between 7 Eleven and Subway in the "L" shaped plaza. It was my very first time exchanging money as I prepare for my trip to Japan in January. Beforehand, I was able to message them about their rates as I know it keeps changing and to be sure it is the same as stated on their website. They were very responsive and so helpful! Still got great rates and an online calculator with their rates, that also will change when the markets are open. If you're planning on getting an amount of currency of a $1000 USD worth or more, I'd probably check in to see if they have inventory. I went to their Hollywood location after getting a quote for a couple thousand dollars worth of yen and they didn't have enough to fulfill my order and sent me to the Van Nuys location, which was the location I had used for my first trip to Japan in 2013. One thing that's changed is they don't lock in their quotes. Back in 2013 I called in for a quote and the person I spoke to on the phone honored the quote for yen he had given me over the phone a few hours before. This time I requested for a quote on Yelp and thought that the same would apply but alas, no more. I could be a double edged sword though if you're trying to buy currency that was weak against the US $ it could drop further between the time you get the quote and make it to a location to do an exchange. Anyway, it was unfortunate that the lady helping me had a bit of an attitude as I was asking to get the quoted rate which was basically a few dollars difference. She did tell me that if I checked in on Yelp that I would be able to get a $3 coupon that I could use so that evened things out. Next time I'm just going to call their Hollywood location and use them since it's closer to me and the ladies working there were more pleasant to deal with and helped me with a smile. Friendly, great service. No hidden fees. However, the buy/sell spread when I bought Costa Rican currency (called Colones) was about 18%. That seems giant to me. That means that when I didn't spend all the currency that I purchased, exchanging it back to USD ended up being quite expensive. I don't know, maybe it's the same spread anywhere you go. Next time I'll call a couple places to be sure. read more
