She was very friendly and listened to how I would like a scissors cut, not an electric buzz up the sides and back and out you go. She spent a good half hour and it was the best cut I had in several years since I moved to Island. The cost was about ten dollars higher than the chain salons but well worth it to me. My wife was surprised when I got home how nice it looked. I won't have to wear a baseball cap for the next two weeks.

I decided to try someone new just to switch things up a bit, as I like to see what different…read morestylists have to offer. I made an appointment with Ashley for full foil and root touch up. After sitting in her chair, we decided to go with a partial foil and root touch up, since this was my first time seeing her. Appointment went well and she even dusted my ends a bit to clean up the layers. I tipped her well and spent about $240 to 260 after tip. I'm used to these prices since I'm 56 and have been going to professional stylists for over 30 years. I'm very particular about my hair. I also had arranged for two follow up appointments over the next few months. I'm a very busy healthcare professional and I cannot wait until the last minute to book appointments since stylists these days don't work weekends or late evenings anymore. A few days after my appointment, I received an email from Ashley saying that she would no longer be able to do my hair (after ONE appointment) because she somehow found out that I was still searching for other stylists. I didn't know that was a crime. Please call Donald Trump and let him know so he can deport me. I thought her response and reaction was very immature and very petty. What I do as a customer and consumer in my own time is actually none of her business and I don't remember entering into any Non-disclosure or non-compete agreement with her saying that I would never seek out another stylist. I was completely shocked and angry to say the least. Yes, she has the right to choose her clients, but to just cancel me like that screams of lack of professionalism and complete lack of maturity. Talk about DIVA vibes. I told her that this was a professional relationship and not a personal one. Her reaction reminded me of being in high school and having someone whine about not being picked for the team. Really flabbergasted actually. Then I wondered if we had proceeded with the other bookings, if for some reason I had to cancel due to a work or personal conflict and went to someone else in the interim, would she have just canceled me then also? Is her behavior telling me and all other women that if we don't bend to her schedule and her need to have her ego stroked, that we would be taken off her list? I went to work and discussed this with some of my mature friends (you know, women who have been working a long time and don't have time for the behavior of children such as Ashley) and one of my girlfriends agreed that this was very unprofessional. This friend also had booked with Ashley based on my suggestion. She immediately canceled her appointment with Ashley May Hair, and another friend stopped following her on Instagram. I think in this climate it is much more productive to lift other women up than destroy them. Bottom line is this: Ashely May is unprofessional, immature and would be wise to grow as a professional. Ridiculous. Unacceptable.
