Well, where do I even start with this place? I'll begin with the restrooms -- they were some of the worst I've seen, absolutely unpleasant. The place overall feels very overwhelming. There are drawings and bright colors everywhere -- on the chairs, tables, walls, even the menu. There's not a single spot without something going on. In my opinion, it's just too much. The service, without exaggeration, was just okay. As for the food, I have mixed feelings. The flavors were decent, but everything felt a bit over the top. Guacamole is one of my favorites, but here it had a strange taste. The person I was with mentioned it had cucumber (I didn't notice it myself), but it definitely wasn't to my liking. I love Mexican restaurants, and this one was very good. The complimentary tortilla chips were warm, super thin and crispy, and the salsa was good too. We ordered Carnitas which was a generous serving of roasted pork, refried beans, and Mexican rice with warm soft and chewy tortillas. The Pork was delicious and perfectly cooked and seasoned. We stopped in for lunch due to the amount of cars in the parking lot. La Carreta did not disappoint. Our server was very attentive from the get go. We asked a hundred questions and he answered with delight. Food was very tasteful and abundant. I was hungry so I ate all of mine but the wife had leftovers. We were looking for something to eat near the wilderness of the smokies. We stumbled upon this restaurant mainly because of its late hours. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality and flavor. The staff is fantastic. The food was terrible. We are from So. Calif. and this it not authentic mexican food. I asked for a bean and cheese burrito....easy enough? I got a tortilla folded with a layer of beans like you would butter your bread....then they put that white cheese sauce over the top. It was terrible. The little beans that were on there were runny. My husband had a meat burrito and he said the meat had no flavor. We paid our bill and left and will not be back and will not recommend this place. Again, the staff and service were great. read more

I'm so happy I finally tried this spot! I've been here twice in the last month and the food has been amazing on both occasions! The guacamole was made fresh and was a good portion size for sharing between two people. It was perfect after we added in a squeeze of lime and salt. Both meals I've tried came out in a timely manner and tasted fantastic! The churros were good as well. The servers were attentive the entire time! No complaints at all after our visits! read more

Even though they had a party of around 60 people in the back room, the food was still coming out for the front of house guests promptly. Came her for $1 Tuesday tacos. Dirt cheap but very low quality. Hardly anything in tacos. Meat was not well seasoned. Taco Bell is better. I ordered chorizo cheese dip. Real low quality minimal chorizo in some cheese that didn't taste great. Cheap chorizo made it very greasy. I wouldn't recommend this. Chips and salsa was just okay, Service was disorganized. Hands down the best Mexican food in the pigeon forge Sevierville and Gatlinburg area. Friendly service, great atmosphere, the La Carreta dip is a must have appetizer. Shows a 93 on its health report but it's not what i would call a "clean" restaurant. The food was pretty good but not up to the standards of our normal Mexican restaurants we visit. This is a tourist town with tourist restaurants I suppose. We visited this place because we wanted to try something new, and it was, just not that great. I don't know what the other Mexican restaurants are like in town but I guess we will try them next time we are in town. Stopped in for dinner because of the good reviews of the food. There were a few reviews that said the restaurant was dirty, BS- this was a very busy night and the waitstaff was short on people and they were running around like crazy yet still managed to bring out amazing tasting food very quickly with a very friendly attitude even though they were short staffed. The staff was friendly. We had good service. The complimentary salsa looked and tasted like it was made from canned tomatoes,with cilantro onion and a few spices tossed in. Oh my goodness... Where do I even begin?! First, lets start this review off on a positive note - the service was great! Our waiter was very kind and managed to give us great service despite the mild language barrier (as expected at any real Mexican restaurant). He answered all our questions and kept the chips and salsa coming. The salsa was pretty good. It wasn't too thick but it wasn't watered down like some Mexican restaurants like to do either. Now for the not-so-positive portion of this review: Have you ever found yourself staring at your plate wondering why the shrimp in your quesadilla tastes like they were marinated in mop water? Well, that's exactly what I found myself pondering after about 2-3 bites of my food. There seemed to be no seasoning at all used on the shrimp, the queso, or anything else they put in the tortilla. This was the first time I ever actually felt my tastebuds dying of boredom. As you can see from the picture I posted, my entire family of 4 ( 2 kids & 2 adults) were unsuccessful in eating our food. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. If the end of the world came and there were a bunch of post-apocalyptic Mexican restaurants (with limited resources) trying their best to mimic past authentic Mexican dishes... then this restaurant might be a 3 star. You KNOW you've had a bad experience when your entire family agrees to go to TacoBell AFTER having spent $33 at an allegedly "authentic Mexican restaurant" - dine at your own risk! read more

We think this is the best Mexican restaurant around! All of the food is really good and the staff is super friendly. Our favorites include the inexpensive "A B C P" (grilled chicken covered with cheese and beans and rice); the super shrimp casadia, the special la casa (beef tips burrito covered with cheese - lunch portion is one, dinner is two) and the taco express (lunch menu). They do not have as large of a selection as some other mexican restaurants, but the food is much better! Their salsa is particularly good - not too chunky, but it's not tomato paste either. If you want to add some heat to your meal, ask for their hot "tomatillo" sauce - it'll warm things up a bit. read more
