Recommend that you make an appointment. If you do, when you arrive you will find a bunch of folks…read morewaiting and you will think you've been duped...however, you don't have to take a number as they will come out and call for you and you won't have to wait for everyone else. Having the appointment will save you a lot of aggravation and a very long wait. Depending on the lab and the time of day, I've seen an estimated wait of over two hours at the Falmouth unit in the morning, Freeport is a little better, Scarborough seems to always have a long wait, not sure of the other locations. The staff is always pretty friendly, even though with the volume of blood draws it can seem a bit like an assembly line, but that's just the way it is. Your results will be ready in 2-3 days and here's where I dislike the service...You can't get the results. They don't upload them to the patient portal for some reason. I have called and asked them to do so, but they won't do it. So if you want to see the results of the blood test you paid for then you have to make another appointment and go back to the lab just to get a hard copy of the results, and the next appointment might be days away. Now they do send the results to your doctor, and I guess you could go to your doctors office and ask them for your results, but the whole thing kind of tic's me off. I pay for the test, but I have to jump through additional hoops just to get the results. Why they refuse to upload the results to the patient portal/gateway is beyond me. All of my other test results are on the portal, but not the blood tests...It dumbfounds me as to the logic. They are part of the Maine Health system, but they just don't communicate with their own. So I can't give them more than 2 stars as this is a service that needs to improve administratively. The part where they draw the blood is fine, with an appointment, but how they handle the results certainly needs improvement.
