This is the most unprofessional LabCorp Office I have ever been in. Staff is just downright rude.
I had an appointment with an Endocrinologist earlier this week about Lab Results performed at my Dr.'s Office. My Doctor was concerned about poor bone density and from the results, low calcium and testosterone appear to be possible factors. The Endocrinologist pointed out that the blood drawn in my Dr.'s Office was drawn at 3pm. In a male, testosterone is at it's maximum level when he wakes up and drops quickly after that so blood samples pulled at 3 pm are already in question as to their accuracy.
There was a LabCorp on the same floor as my Endocrinologist but it was already after 10 and approaching 11 am so would have been outside the desirable window for testing.
They ordered additional tests and we went to set up an appointment with LabCorp for early morning testing.
I occurred to me that my wife was having a Colonoscopy at Novant Health North on Friday (today) and there is a LabCorp there. While she was undergoing her procedure, I could go over to the Lab and have blood drawn and be back to recovery when she came out.
When we checked in, I told admissions I was there also for blood work and they gave me directions and told me they don't open till 8 am and while they do take appointments, appointments are not really necessary but like restaurant reservations, in cases of crowds, they do make things go smoother.
About 7:45am, there were getting ready to take my wife back and the nurse suggested I go ahead and walk over.
Got to LabCorp's door about 7:50an. Door was locked and lights were out so I took a seat and waited. Another Lady showed up about 5 minutes later and sat down on the opposite side of the door.
Right at 8:00am, someone who I assume was one of the Phlebotomists showed up and unlocked the door. As she was unlocking the door, I announced myself and told here I was there for blood work.
She said I did not have an appointment and appointments were needed and they do have stickers on at least six places on the door to that effect.
She indicated that she did not have any appointments till 8:30 am. A moment later I poked my head into the still dark anti room to give her my name since I had been there when the Endocrinologist Desk set up the Appointment.
A couple of minutes later, she came back into the hall way and said that I could not be seen because I did not have an appointment. I gave her a copy of the orders and she said you have orders but not an appointment.
The other lady who was waiting came over and said she was also there for Blood Works and the lady told her not she was not because she did not have an appointment. She too had called and was told that appointments were not necessary.
The LabCorp employee was rude, loud and obnoxious to both of us.
She told me that she was not going to accommodate my needs nor the needs of the other lady who was there. She said I would have to go to the Holly Crest Location which while only three miles away, would have put me at the limits of time I had to have the sample drawn. I even pointed out the time restrictions but to no avail.
Now in defense of LabCorp, this was a total aberration from any experiences that I have had in the past with the Company. I moved back to the Carolina's in 1994 and at the time, they were a small but growing lab system in Burlington, NC.
Up until today, have only had good results and it should be noted that Lakeside Family Physicians which is part of Novant and who drew the original blood sample used LabCorp to process that sample.
LabCorp is good but this location should be avoided at all cost. read more
