Seeing as the market is the biggest German market outside of Germany I wasn't as impressed as I…read moreexpected to be. There were duplicates of lots of the food/drink huts and I expected a wider range of huts selling goods like toys and decorations. It felt very sparse compared to what I'd seen in previous year's photos. We checked the map to make sure we hadn't missed a section but I'm guessing they maybe took a hit post-covid because it just didn't hit the mark for us. Beautiful to walk around at night but very expensive, especially for the food options.

The smell of mulled wine and sausage cooking on the streets of the city centre can only mean one…read morething......the Christmas market is back! This is a yearly addition to the city centre with stalls selling festive treats ranging from chocolate and tasty treats through to toys and ornaments. The real thing people go here for however is the food and even more importantly the drink. This is the one time of the year that Birmingham city council lets allows people to drink on the street (in designated areas) and people 100% take advantage of this! The bars and stalls are always full with people enjoying a range of mulled drinks and beers. I am a big fan of this market and even though it can be a little pricy at times its a welcome addition to November/December in the city. Go get yourself an oversize glass of festive cheer and welcome the Christmas market back to Brum!

This was the second time I'd been here, both occasions by narrowboat. It was a warm June evening…read moreand, whilst there were no moorings available on the bank, we were able to tie up alongside another boat for the night. The outside tables were nearly full, but we found a seat, bought drinks and ordered our food. The gammon steaks were enormous, the beer was good and the service was friendly and efficient. A friendly place, we'll be back again.

We dropped in by accident and found a jewel!…read more Great food (we had Fish´n Chips and a Sirloin Steak), the starters are really tasty (have a try on the croquettes with Aioli. The Ales are - well - if you are german - and from Bavaria / Franconia the beer is the only point you can criticise here (no foam and too warm... but hey). It was Winter - so we didn't have the idea to look behind the house where I recognised later that there must be something like a small beer garden. Anyhow. The Cape of Good Hope is the place I want to be again. Waiters/Waitress - friendly and nice - even to a hun. Food - great dishes. Served with a smile and utmost tasty Beer - (the tourist says "hey nice - an english Ale! - the Franconian/ Bavarian says "Naaaaaaa.....) ;-) Would I come here again? Definitely Ranking from 0 to 10 (10 is best) Location: 7 Menue: 7 Food quality: 7-8 Food taste: 8 Drinks: 7 (good crafted beer) Table: 7-8 Waiter Service: 8+ Drinks are rated 7 for the local brew. (I'm native franconian - and used to high quality beers (highest density of breweries in the world)... So I might have a clue about quality of beer.....) I would give it a try!
