Throughout my meeting, the only thing I could think of was going back to Semilla and discover what more they had to offer. As soon as the meeting ended, I jumped out of my seat, kissed everyone on the cheek and left to go straight there. The wait was definitely worth it! Not only do they make some awesome natural bread but they even have the organic brand, Eden (I obviously have mixed feelings about this since I am happy to have a quality brand I know and trust but, due to their current women's rights mess up, I am not supporting them, so sad it was the only option for organic grains). Regardless, they have a ton of other organic products such as coffee, tea, coconut oil (yay!) and raw organic cacao powder. Although they have some amazing gourmet and organic items in their shop, they are best known for their bakery. They make great large loafs of all-natural whole grain breads. I recommend getting a loaf of either Albahaca Quínoa or Tomate Seco Ciboulette (toast it and drizzle some organic olive oil on top...yum!) If you are not a fan of whole wheat, they have a ton of white bread varieties such as Cebolla-Queso (seriously good!) as well as Quiche and empanadas. And for all of those who have a sweet tooth, they do make some kickass muffins, cookies ("galletones" because they are huge!) and bread with chocolate!! Ojo: They are only open Monday-Friday so make your way there after work to get your fix.

A good balance to the sugar-bomb that is most Chilean breads. :) I tried an 80% rye that had grated carrot and walnut in it -- about 6 US dollars, but lasted us a while as it's so much more filling. Everyone loved it, including my Chilean brother-in-law!

The only drawback is the service is really excellent and then I think the server got overwhelmed and forgot to bring out the tart but as long as you're patient it is well worth the wait. The staff were all very kind and it was peaceful and calm on the weekend. I would have preferred to give this place 4.5 stars but anything less would be a lie.

After that excellent experience, I decided to bring my hubby for a Sunday brunch. I was VERY satisfied with their brunch menu! I could not believe the amount of food and drink that we both received--it was almost too much (in fact, we did take some breads home with us). When it comes to drinks, like pastries, they don't skimp on quality. The fresh-squeezed juices are terrific and the coffee baristas really know what they're doing. I ordered a coffee on Easter Sunday that was delish and had a hot cocoa most recently. The raspberry juice was so great that my hubby, who was feeling a little under the weather, had two! The ambiance is what you would expect from a French cafe in the city. It's a smaller space but I recommend sitting outside if you can. We sat in the far back courtyard and despite the cold temps outside, we were cozy thanks to the warm heat lamps and they also provide blankets! I highly recommend this spot for the friendly service (even if your Spanish is not great) and really delicious food. They even have a nice bakery right when you walk in the door, so it's a perfect spot to grab a quick host gift, a surprise for a friend, or even a coffee drink to go.

It was a rainy day and nothing sounded better than a nice hot cup of tea and a rich pastry. This cafe has an awesome selection of different pastries including one of Chiles specialties, Torta de Manjar. Aka a cake layered with dulce de leche, nuts and thin puff pastry bits. A real sweet bite, but perfect for those cold winter afternoons. I've also tried their chocolate ganache cake with raspberry sauce and really enjoyed the richness of it without it being too overwhelming. One of my fondest experiences from Rendebú was the variety of loose leaf tea they offered. When you sit down, servers bring you a tray full of different types of loose leaf teas in little jars for you to smell and decide between. I got the looseleaf Bombay Chai with steamed soy milk and reused the tea leaves a few times after, and to my surprise they held their flavor, even after the 3rd refill! Of course, the cafe wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable if it weren't for the adorable decor. A mix of 1950s memorabilia and paisley walls paper make it a charming and cozy setting to enjoy your afternoon tea! During my stay in Santiago I returned once more to Cafe Rendebú, and if I ever revisit the amazing country of Chile I will surely be back! -Parisa
