I give this place the benefit of the doubt for now...3*…read more It's always very full lunchtimes when I walk past, so today I decided to pop in and have a double espresso and take a look at the menu...it was early and had very few customers...the food was still arriving and was being taken to the kitchens The outside smoking area is glassed in with a solid door to the resto itself...so tick! The inside is sort of divided into 3 parts otherwise...plenty of room. It just looks a little dull. I also have seen someone out front, maybe weekends? and maybe they're doing oysters or some such...will have to look next time The menu looks good, reasonably priced...but having said that I thought €5.20 rather steep for the coffee...no little chocolate on the side but they did bring a glass of water with it Will return and have lunch sometime and report back!

Positive: - the food is good and fresh. We had a 'club…read moretruite' (generous sandwich with marinated trout, egg, salad served with french fries) and the vegetarian dish of the day (a feta crumble with a salad). Lots of typically French fare (andouillette, planche de charcuteries, etc). For dessert we had a filled chou pastry with a chestnut cream (it was the highlight of the meal). With two teas we paid 49 euros for two. - outside tourists' areas - family friendly (they have toys for kids) (this can be a negative if you don't plan on having a romantic lunch surrounded by infants) - friendly service Negative: - the friendly service is very slooooow and a bit chaotic (the club truite was called club chicken, they forgot the sugar for the tea so they had to bring us the cups again etc) - the outside garden is very picturesque but also cold during non summer days. They have some heaters but they hung so high that they only warm at head level. So you end up having cold feet and hot cheeks.

First lunch this trip and it was perfect. It's nearly 70 degrees today so I say on the patio under…read morethe trees (just turning yellow) and strings of lights. The chairs are bright colors and I could sit here forever. Started with the gazpacho (spot on, if a little too much acidity and volume). Had the trout special and it was the best trout dish I've ever had. Skin was crisp, sauce was creamy but not too rich. Purée of potatoes with a little balsamic. It was a lot for lunch but I finished every bite. Somehow had room for the fromage blanc. 18 Euros for the three courses. Had a glass of Côté de Gascogne with it. Staff was lovely and patient with my rusty French and shit manners (I'm writing this st the table).
