Jamie W and I didn't venture that far from Zona Romantica, but when we walked to the northern end of the Malecon, we found ourselves in the quaintly commercial neighborhood of 5 de Diciembre. Because there was a nip in the air (and I'm not talking about me), it was time for a coffee break. We found this compact spot with a couple of sidewalk tables, so we decided to plant ourselves for the time being. Fortunately they had a robust coffee menu with each item in two sizes: 'chico' and 'grande'.
I assumed 'chico' meant small, but it translates literally to 'boy'. Regardless, we were feeling quite 'grande' since we needed fuel for the long walk back to the hotel. Jamie ordered the MX$70 Grande Latte (Photo 3), while I went for the more bargain priced MX$45 Grande Americano (Photo 6). Both hit the respective spots of the respective recipients. Better yet, they were truly grande and lasted us through a lengthy conversation about the highs and lows of Puerto Vallarta. Rest assured It was almost all highs.
COFFEE - 4 stars...rich brews in their coffees
AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...a bit tight but the sidewalk tables helped considerably
SERVICE - 3.5 stars...efficient
TOTAL - 4 stars...nice stop in a bustling neighborhood
