While the place itself is rather small, the food is big in flavor and everyone there makes you feel at home. The pasta carbonara was fresh and flavorful; added with some freshly grated cheese at your table. From the warm, welcoming ambience and courteous, professional wait staff to the outstanding, diverse menu of house made pastas, beautiful fresh salads and many other choices. Table space is quite tight and I observed no walk-ins without a reservation, so I would recommend booking in advance. If you have a passion for truly authentic and delicious pasta, this is the place to go in Frankfurt.

Boy, were we glad we found this place. We both ordered the same special: house-made tagliolini pasta, which was swirled in a wheel of parmesan cheese, then topped with black truffle shavings for 17 euro. When our dishes arrived, the pasta looked amazing and tasted just as good as it looked. They didn't skimp on the truffle either. The last bite was just as good as the first. We loved it. So much so that we went back the next evening and ordered the same thing. Fantastic house-made pasta, friendly service, and several house-made desserts to choose from. The pizza looked really good as well. Five stars in my book.

Everything was pretty good, but I found the tuna creme especially memorable. Next up was a plate with risotto ai funghi and spaghetti ai frutti di mare. I have to admit that I did not try the risotto since I am not that much into rice, but everyone around me really liked it. I definitely enjoyed the spaghetti. The pasta was al dente and the seafood was excellent. Our final main course was a mixed seafood platter with salmon, scampi and piece of white fish (not sure which one) as well as mixed grilled veggies. It was very yummy. Everything was prepared very well. In the interim, some fried baby calamari were served. I was more than pleasantly surprised about those. See, usually I don't like calamari at all. I always find them too chewy and uninteresting. But these ones were amazing. Lightly fried, crispy, not to chewy at all and with the right amount of salt - I ended up eating a whole bunch of them cause they were so enjoyable. Everyone should order those when visiting Forno D'Oro 2! Additionally, I was very happy with the white wine that was served - Scaia (a mix of chardonnay and garganega - see my pic). It was light, crisp and just perfect for the HOT summer day we were enduring. It's been a few weeks 3 months since I enjoyed this wine and I am still dreaming about it. ;-) The service was very friendly and pretty efficient considering that they had to serve our group of 20 on top of their other customers. Thumbs up for being patient all the time while small children were running around.

It's a spacious restaurant with a trattoria attached and a cigar bar. The wine cellar here is great and they have some fabulous wines, grappa and many other different spirits from Italy and around Europe. It's a pretty posh place and seems to attract a bit of high and clientele. The menu is fairly extensive with pasta, starters and steaks. The mixed starter was very nice and we shared a Chateaubriand for two which was ok. The sauce tasted a bit weird and the steak was over cooked for my liking. The dessert I had of almond Creme brûlée was also ok nothing special. The flavours were nothing special here at all. The service was great to begin with but very slow later. We also waited a while for our food. All in all an ok place and I may come here again. If nothing else I might come back for the wine and drink choices they have.

I ordered the paccheri with shrimps and rucola and while I had to leave a some of the rucola on the plate since the amount was a bit too generous ;), the pasta was perfectly al dente and I absolutely loved the seafood as well as the sauce it came with. I also got the chance to try the truffle ravioli. The truffle flavor was rather subtle, but the ravioli were also perfectly cooked and the dish in general was delicious. The star of the evening was a dish though that I did not even get to try! One of the neighboring tables had ordered a spaghetti with parmesan dish and suddenly the staff brought in a cart with a huge parmesan cheese wheel. The cheese had a big hole in the middle and the server poured the steaming pasta in there and tossed it around for a good while before adding freshly grated pieces of truffle. Then this pasta goodness was served right at the ordering table. It just looked amazing and for a brief moment our own table was contemplating to order this as well to share (although all of us had finished eating by that point lol). There is no question: I definitely need to come back to try this dish! :)
