Marita's Cantina - Buffalo chicken quesadilla; with a side of black beans we ordered!

I wish I were rating Marita's in the late '90's early 2000s. I would have gladly given a 5-star…read morereview. Sadly, in 2025, I think one star is generous. I do believe it's the same owner, but I don't know what happened. This place is NOT what it once was. I miss old Marita's. I have been told that the drink specials and cocktails at Marita's are excellent and, after five or six of said drinks, the food is palatable. I unfortunately don't drink, and it wasn't. The steak fajitas I ordered arrived luke-warm. The "steak" used is clearly of a lower grade as it was chewy and it would not surprise me at all to find it was purchased pre-cut and/or pre-seasoned. The salsa and guacamole tastes like it was spooned right out of a tub. The cheese was very thickly grated which, as anyone knows doesn't melt consistently when applied to hot food (not applicable here). The rice was somehow both undercooked and overcooked. It tasted like they made rice for the first time, with no instructions, in a microwave. A "wet-crunch?" The two flour tortillas were cold and probably straight from the package. 2/10 as the tomatoes and lettuce were clean and fresh. So, good job there I guess...? My daughter ordered a burrito with beef and what she received was a soggy diaper filled with under-seasoned meat and covered with a film of cheese and a sweet sort of red sauce which was probably supposed to be enchilada sauce. I mean, it was massive so if you are starving and don't care, this may be right up your alley. Maybe... I brought the issues to the attention of the waitress and she seemed accustomed to hearing these complaints as she shrugged and simply asked if I wanted the manager. She never quite stopped at the table while I was talking, kinda just did a slow pass by on her way to the "noisier" tables. About ten minutes later she put our check on the table as she did another pass by without a word. We weren't asked about refills even once. The staff seemed more inclined to serve and flirt with the suspiciously young looking guests who were definitely enjoying the food (see need for drink specials above). Come to think of it, I do remember issues with serving underage patrons here in the past. History repeats? Maybe. Regardless, no manager ever came and I realized if the staff doesn't care enough to hear complaints, the manager won't either. I paid the bill, tipped 15% (my minimum), and we left hungry and disappointed. I read some of the reviews and it seems the manager/owner likes to respond with apathy and tongue in cheek jabs. The restaurant labels itself as a "Southwestern Bar and Grille" but I'm not so sure that doesn't mean the "Southwest side of Restaurant Depot." If you like unimaginative bland food straight off the shelves of a grocery store, save some money and pick up a Hungry Man from the Weis down the road. Frankly, this place used to be great but if the owner/manager/chef or whoever has lost their spark, the best this place can do is close its doors to make way for something new. TL/DR AVOID!!!!! Bad food. Poor service. Choose from any of the better establishments that are down on Main St.

Very good service and nice inside and outside seating. My ground beef enchilada was good and so was…read moremy margarita.

You can immediately feel how happy and welcoming everyone is the second you walk in. Even the customers were smiling, chatting, and being kind to each other... it just felt like one of those places people genuinely enjoy being in. I ordered the chicken halal over rice and baklava, and I'm already thinking about when I can go back The baklava situation alone deserves its own review because you get four pieces in an order and can mix flavors. I tried the chocolate and pistachio baklava and both were unreal. Their dessert display should honestly come with a warning because everything looks amazing. Huge thank you to Jorge and Saiyu for being so welcoming to me my first time there. I recently moved nearby, so finding a spot with great food and great energy made me ridiculously happy. Safe to say this is officially going to be my "bring everyone here when they visit" place.

Ordered takeout since their outdoor seating wasn't up yet and we couldn't dine in with the pup. The place is rather small and more like a quick grab-and-go place than a dine-in restaurant. The menu is pretty basic (platters, pitas, burger, salads) with an extensive selection of middle eastern sweets and some cakes as well. I had the "everything" chicken over rice (platter) and it didn't disappoint. The chicken was flavorful and pretty good. My husband leaned into his usual splurge with a double patty burger and fries. He said the burger was very good (and rather large too) while the fries seemed to be frozen fries rather than fresh. We also had some of the walnut baklava, which was just okay. Didn't hit the mark or seemed super fresh. There seems to be only street parking. There are two machines where you can place your order and pay seamlessly with card / Apple Pay. The food didn't take too long to come out either. Solid spot and would return, but the halal in the TRUE NYC just CANNOT be beat, even when included in the name of the business...

La Morena is one of the best places to dine in the Poconos…read more Gipson is a dedicated server, Marcos is the owner and chef, and the food is fresh and phenomenal. There is plenty of room for couples or large groups. I have had many dishes here over the years and they have all been amazing, from empanadas to steak, and from chicken to a variety of seafood. Yes, the food may take a while if they are busy but it has always been worth the wait. Besides excellent food, these are big portions as if you have visited Marcos' place for a home cooked meal. The consistency and quality of the dishes amazes me and I hope you discover how fantastic La Morena is for lunch and dinner.

**Pricey but delicious…read more Disclaimer, just because it's pricey doesn't mean it's bad. This weekend I decided to have some La Morena after passing it by. My order was the Cuban sandwich and the half chicken and rice. The Cuban sandwich, honestly, wasn't the best. The sandwich was edible but rather bland. Once I slapped some hotsauce on that bad boy I was back in the game. The chicken was BBQd to perfection with just enough spice and umami that had me finish every bite. The fries were standard bag fries nothing emaculant. Conclusionl: Food - 3.5 Stars Price: 3.5 Stars Ambiance: 4 Stars (I wish I ate in) Service: 3.5 Stars , the cook was nice but the server seemed unbothered. I'll go back and try a few more meals. If you want a cheap meal this isn't the place but it is well cooked and a delicious treat from time to time. Overall: 3.5 Stars and worth a visit
