Has anyone ever tried to cancel an LA Times subscription? LA Times confirmed by phone today that I canceled the subscription May 20, 2023. They continue, to this day, to deliver the paper to an address I moved from end of May, even after 2 subsequent calls to discontinue delivery! Today the lady said delivery would stop tomorrow yet no refund of the unused portion of the subscription is available. After a labored discussion she said she'd put in the request for refund of the unused protion of the subscription and if approved it'd be credited to my cc. Very horrible billing department and customer service. I am being double billed and they are incredibly unprofessional is how they are dealing with it even telling me to dispute the charges with my credit card company which is unethical! I will never subscribe again and will be sure to tell others along with filing a complaint with BBB and anyone else willing to take on their unethical customer service and billing team! read more

I tried to cancel my subscription in writing with my monthly bill. To my surprise the subscription kept arriving, so I called after two weeks of their non compliance with my request to terminate service. To my surprise they would not accept a written request for terminating service! It could only be completed via phone conversation! Just a few years back if you didn't put it in writing it didn't happen... Well I finally was able to speak to a LA Times representative to cancel my service. I send the last check to cover the time period from when I first canceled my service and all should have been fine. To my surprise I received yet another bill from the LA Time that covers service from the second time I cancel and now they want to charge me to the end of MAY????? It's raining. It's been in the news that it will be raining. Yet the delivery idiot not only just singles bags the paper, but he doesn't tie the bag shut. So my paper gets drenched. And when I call for redelivery I'm told no can do and instead I'll get credit. read more

I hate the LA Times. Not only did they lie about me in an article, when I ASKED the photographer if they were going to be honest (ha!) now they are continuing to charge me for a subscription. I called to cancel BECAUSE I KNOW they lie. I know because I saw right in front of my eyes they LIE. SO, I called to cancel (turns out my subscription wasn't active) next thing I know I am charged AGAIN! So I call to remove my charges (It was only online) and they REFUSED! Over and Over "We do apologize..." I do not know what happened. I have not respected the LA Times for a long time, I was not interested in subscribing. I do not trust them as far as I can throw them. Deceptive and unethical subscription and billing practices. A young high school student came to my building selling subscriptions. I had no desire to purchase a subscription--who the heck reads newspapers nowadays!?--but decided to help him out and sign up for the Sunday only delivery for $20.00. To be honest, I didn't even know how long the subscription was for and assumed it would just end after the initial term. To keep things short...the kid apparently kept the $20.00 for himself, I kept receiving billing notices for the twenty dollars I paid the kid, I refused to pay because I had already paid and never wanted a subscription in the first place, and assumed they would just cancel my subscription automatically. Come to find out my "account" was sent to a collection agency. I called and explained, and paid the "past due amount" (what the kid stole, plus an additional term or late fees...it was approximately 39.00). Come to find out, the person on the phone did not process my payment or cancellation request, so I received another billing notice, I finally paid the money online and clearly checked that I DID NOT want to restart my subscription. Last Sunday I get a newspaper on my doorstep again (which I immediately threw in the trash where it belongs) and today I get another billing statement. If I cannot cancel a subscription over the phone with a representative, and I cannot cancel online? HOW. THE. HELL. DO. I. CANCEL!? I can clearly see that the LA Times is fighting desperately to stay alive, but doing so by deceptive and unethical subscription and billing practices is not a way to do it. Even though I did not read the newspaper I respected print media, but now I will be so happy when the LA times finally goes out of business. read more

Consistent delivery problems for newspaper and TV Weekly Magazine! Promised to be delivered in 24 hrs over and over and never arrives!

Terrible delivery service. I've called every Sunday for the past 2+ months to report non delivery of my Sunday Select. Every time I get the same story that they will notify the carrier and I'll be getting delivery the following week. No delivery. Horrible way to run a business. read more

Upped rate without notice. Took nearly 90 minutes to cancel subscription. Phone number is difficult to locate, when calling, operator transfer you to a line that hangs up. Ultimately asked for the customer services manager who gives you a hard sell. How can a business like this continue to operate - actually I know the answer. Once you subscribe, rates go up and you can't cancel. Solution? Don't subscribe in the first place, no matter what type of offer you are given. read more
