The rooms are big and comfortable, the shower is one of the best I've ever had in Europe and the breakfasts were a delicious combination of local cheeses, salamis and pastries. The pool is a great place to kick back and relax before or after a day of wine tasting, and getting to play with Moon, their dog, made us miss our pups at home a little less. But the best part about Bricco is the hospitality of Livio and Claudia. From the welcome wine with cheese & salami, to the endless dinner recommendations and suggestions for the surrounding area to the evening nightcap of grappa, you couldnt ask for better service. They make you feel like you are part of their family and I was truly sad the day our stay ended. We look forward to a return trip to Piemonte and we will most definitely be staying at Bricco dei Cogni.

It is very good value for money and tastefully designed with wings centred round a courtyard. The rooms are reasonably-sized with cheerfully tiled bathrooms and the whole place is kept spotless. Every time we have stayed there, it has been very thinly occupied, which means that you can often have the pleasant swimming pool to yourself. Adjoining it is a 9-hole golf course and superb restaurant (about one minute on foot). I think that they share business interests but are independent. As a hotel guest, you have visitor's rights to the golf club bar. The restaurant is again excellent value for money, although I feel that I have cheated myself by not exploring its entire possibilities. The thing is that with the local Piedmontese speciality antipasto - you just want to keep going back for more of the diverse glory on offer. As often, breakfast (amusingly called 'colazione' in Italian) is not much of a collation, although the coffee is, of course, first rate. However, if those orange melons are in season, it can become a real collation! If you want to visit Turin and wake up in the mountain air, it's a real special. Not all the staff speak English, but can usually find someone who does. For instance the manager of the restaurant, who very kindly introduced me to Italian coffee-flavoured cigars.

The food was good but definitely not worth the drive and the money. The prices went up quite a bit in conjunction with a drastic reduction of the portions. The appetizers instead of being served one by one they now come in a single plate: 5 tiny appetizers. One of the person at the table told the waiter he was allergic to one of this five items and the waiter did not offer something alternative. The pasta dishes were good but again served already as individual very small portions. The prices were extremely high, 14 euros for those 5 appetizers, 9-12 for the pasta dishes and 44 for the desserts. The final straw however for us was that one of us asked for a "caffè corretto" and the waiter offered to bring the liquors on the table. One person added a drop in the coffee and we were charged 6 euros for that. Honestly no restaurants of this type charge for the liquors at the end. We are old customers going regularly compatibly with the fact we live far away and we expected more. The changes to the service, the reduced portions and the the higher prices were quite unwelcome. Time for us to explore other venues!

We were not familiar with 'typical' Piedmont cuisine so the owner brought us an appetizer medley with Cotechino, Red Peppers, and other goodies that I dont remember the name! (all delicious though!). He suggested us a Barbera/Syrah blend which was divine and really cheap (I believe 13 Euros!).. For first course we tried these tiny raviolis which are served on a napkin, tableside with no sauce... We loved them and suggested he should open a kiosk in South Beach and serve them as Popcorn Ravioli... I mean these little things were DELICIOUS!!.. Our second course was a bird called "Faraona" oven-roasted served with a veggie medley from his garden (talk about fresh!)... Everything was excellent and we still had a little room for dessert and we had the BEST tiramisu made with Moscato and served with frozen Moscato grapes... OMG I can still savour it and probably crave tonight... Totally worth it !! We stayed the night at the B&B and was incredibly serene and quiet.. Just what we needed in our short stay!

From design to food to wine, everything is perfect here, especially for a quiet, romantic getaway. It's a bit in the middle of nowhere :-). Relaxing in the stone pool with the grapes all around and the noises of the city far away.... was just unbelievably relaxing. If you choose to take meals outside there's a wonderful restaurant in nearby Vaglio Serra called Piazza Crova. Room was spacious and perfectly appointed. I know I sound like I own the place but seriously, we've seldom stayed anywhere we liked better after two decades in Europe. The villa is in a very pretty spot, the pool is nice and we went for some beautiful runs in the morning. There is a gym filled with some older equipment. We were happy to opt for the hilly runs instead. I had a great relaxing massage there too. I will definitely return!!!

We found this gem online while looking for a place to stay during a 4-day visit to Piemonte for…read morewine tasting. Located in the tiny residential village of Sinio its a little island by itself up on a breezy hilltop. Since this is a restored castle dating from the 12th century the stone walls are thick and windows are tiny to keep out medieval marauders and the rooms are all unique. We stayed in room 7 on the 1st (2nd the way we count) floor at the end of the hall featuring a large bedroom and sitting area that was a few steps below the hallway. It also had two small twin beds in a loft above so this room would be a good choice for family groups. The staff opened the wrought iron gate and greeted us at the top of the drive along with the owner. While the owner, Denise (who is American) checked us in and provided an extensive orientation while we sipped prosecco, the luggage was taken off to our room. One of the features of the property is an immaculately landscaped courtyard bespectacled with colorful blooms-an oasis of tranquility and beauty in an otherwise unremarkable village. The hotel also has an amazing restaurant open only to guests and we opted to try it our first night-oh my God! It turns out Denise is also the executive chef-perhaps her primary love-and we enjoyed a memorable 2-hour meal seated in the open-air Terrace tasting exquisite delights. We started by sharing the "into the garden pasta"-handmade ravioli artfully displayed with bits of shaved garden vegetables and herbs followed by a most delicious sole perfectly crispy on the edges and succulent with al dente vegetables and a beautiful sauce of lemon and passion fruit. Words just cannot describe how good this restaurant's food was. In fact, the dining is reason enough alone to stay here for anyone who enjoys the culinary experience of a master chef. We followed the meal with a decadent chocolate and cherry mouse cake that was the perfect finale to a beautiful evening.
