The flautas were incredible, similar to Chico's Tacos but honestly even better! You get six generously packed with ground beef, plus a delicious red sauce and spicy green salsa. We were hungry, and this place definitely delivered. We'll absolutely be coming back!

Comfort food with a friendly, local vibe!!!!…read more Margie's Cafe Canteen is a cozy spot that serves satisfying, home-style meals. The food was flavorful and filling, with generous portions that felt well worth the price. It's the kind of place where the menu keeps things simple but delivers dependable comfort. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout the visit. Service was generally smooth, though it slowed slightly during busy hours. Overall, Margie's Cafe Canteen is a solid choice for a casual, comforting meal. With a bit more consistency during peak times, it could easily be a five-star experience.

This is one of my family's favorite spots for a reason! Every meal was super filling and delicious. For appetizers, we ordered the guac and the elote, and both were devoured almost immediately. We all ordered different dishes, so I got to try a little bit of everything, and honestly, everything was so good. The standouts for me were definitely the birria and the flautas. I also ordered a jamaica gin martini and loved it! I love how big the space is because they were able to accommodate our family of 10 very easily, no problem at all. There was a wait, but there was just two of us, so we were able to sit in the bar area right away. Our server was WONDERFUL; very helpful and fast. The menu is pretty large and a bit different from other Mexican restaurants in the area (they even had an American breakfast section). I ended up ordering the Huevos Rancheros (eggs on a tortilla in some kind of tomato sauce with extra tortillas on the side, breakfast potatoes, & beans). Next time I'll get it without cheese (i don't think it listed cheese on the menu, but I should just always say no cheese all the time haha). The eggs were cooked perfectly over medium as I requested, and though normally I don't care for the sides, these were too good to skip! The breakfast potatoes were seasoned and cooked so well that I inhaled them, and the beans had a kind of smoky flavor to them. So good! My boyfriend was very happy with his pancakes and sausage. And, everything was very reasonably priced (which is especially awesome right now since inflation is out of control). I can't wait to come back here and try everything on their menu!

Instead of packaging it, she threw the entire plate away. When we asked about it--assuming she was preparing it to-go--she laughed, said "oops," and made no offer to remake the dish, discount it, or remove it from the bill. Her service throughout the visit felt disorganized, and she seemed distracted and inattentive. We typically enjoy dining here and rarely experience issues, but this was by far the most disappointing visit we've had.

Being new to El Paso, we were hunting for a late-night bite and ended up at Roll-in Flautas. At…read more$12.99 for six flautas with a split option (I chose chicken and brisket), the pricing is fair, but the overall experience was a mixed bag. The biggest issue right away was the cleanliness. The place was dead slow, so there was really no excuse for the dining room being in the state it was. Large food crumbs were scattered all over the floor, and the salsa bar looked completely neglected and in desperate need of a wipe-down and restock. Service was the one operational bright spot. We were greeted immediately, drinks hit the table in 2:35, and the food arrived piping hot at 5:18. Visually, though, the plate was completely uninspired zero flare, zero effort, just tossed together. As for the food itself, the chicken flautas were downright bad. Totally flavorless, with all the taste of crunchy water. Luckily, the brisket flautas saved the meal the meat was tender, well-seasoned, and packed with flavor. The absolute highlight of the night was the sauce selection; there are tons of options, and every single one was fantastic. If they sweep the floor, clean the salsa bar, and put actual seasoning into the chicken, this place could be a late-night staple. Until then, go strictly for the brisket and drown it in sauce.
