I visited La Saint George's pre-pandemic while on a business trip to Rennes. I totally enjoyed myself and my meal. The atmosphere was classy for a crepe joint, but probably only average classy ... by French standards. La Saint George was busy on my visit and seemed like a place the locals visited frequently. The cuisine & menu is all about the crepes. The restaurant had French and English menus. My party of 2 Americans and 1 Canadian went for some crepes that were cheeseburger themed. There were cute names for all the crepes. We ordered some cider to go with our meal which was dry and delicious. We had salted caramel dessert crepes that were perfect. The service was exceptional, and the price and value received more than fair. I totally recommend La Saint George and would be happy to eat here again. Bon appetite.

Lots of velvet and funky lamps made this place seem like a nightclub/lounge better found in New York City, not in Rennes. I will admit, all of these things made me hesitate when I walked in. However, their selection of galettes was truly unique. This would be my last galette in Rennes, and I had to make it count. Enter Le Giorgio Armani. Four pieces of magret de canard topped with foie gras and a bit of caramelized apple. It was around 17€ and the most expensive thing on the menu. But it was well worth it. I couldn't believe I had four pieces of magret de canard in addition to foie gras. It was like I'd died and gone to heaven. It took me forever to eat because I couldn't stop "Mmmmm" ing and "ooooooh yummmmmm" ing. If you are looking to splurge, this is what you should get. The previous reviewer complained of dry, cold galettes. I didn't have the same experience at all. For dessert, I ordered a speculoos ice cream and Nutella crêpe. It came with a piece of hazelnut chocolate with a flag of Brittany sticking out of it (nice touch!). I loved the speculoos ice cream, but the Nutella crêpe was not particularly noteworthy. Or maybe my expectations were just too high after my galette. Don't come here unless you want something unusual. This was a perfect last crêperie for my time in France.

I LOVE crepes and Rennes and Britanny are the epicenter for good crepes and galettes. The Epi de Ble is an excellent representation of a good French crepe restaurant. It is probably a 4 by a French standard ... but it gets a 5 today from this Yankee. In any event, there are no negatives for me to report on this restaurant. I have been to many creperies (30+) in France. Some were as good as L'Epi de Ble, but none were better. On the menu are all the standard creperie options. I went with one of the specials and ordered the Norwegian (salmon). It was delicious. The buckwheat galette was perfection. I ordered some local cider to go with my meal and it was dry and tasty. For dessert, I ordered the salted caramel. It was simple and awesome. I always order this one for dessert. In summary, creperies do not get better than this ... only different.

They're located very close to the Parc du Thabor, and I LOVE that they have an English menu, and the staff speak English. You can choose to sit inside or outside, and if the weather starts to get cold outside, they offer you blankets. Not all creperies are made equally - I love this one because of their handcrafted ice creams that really elevate their crepes and galettes. I got the Indulgente (11,80) which comprised of Smoked Scottish Salmon, goat cheese, homemade leek fondue, salad of the day, and Roquefort handcrafted ice cream. It took around 10 minutes for my galette to come out even though there was only one other order in front of me - but no complaints because I'm guessing that's the time it takes for perfection to be made. This was absolutely amazing. Two nice slabs of goat cheese underneath thinly sliced smoked salmon, wrapped in a thin and crispy galette, topped with green salad (basically just lettuce lol) and leek fondue (this was basically just steamed leeks in my opinion), accompanied by a scoop of the Roquefort ice cream on the side. The galette was amazing by itself, and all the components elevated it to another level. The Roquefort ice cream was sweeter and creamier than I had imagined. I normally would NEVER choose anything that had Roquefort because it's similar to bleu cheese, which I absolutely cannot stand. But I found myself trying to scoop out every last bit of this ice cream as I could. I originally was just going to be on my way after having that one galette, but the woman next to me had ordered a crepe and I got drawn into getting a dessert myself, after the server handed me the menu once more. I got the Marronmania (8,50) which was a crepe with chestnut cream, handcrafted chestnut honey ice cream, and homemade whipped cream. My mouth is watering just thinking about this. The crepe itself was slightly sweet and absolutely delicious. The marron cream was creamy and smooth, and the ice cream tasted more like honey than chestnut, but was delicious nonetheless. The whipped cream!! It was amazing! I know it's just whipped cream but it was extremely light and fluffy, just a little bit of sweetness, and paired so well with the crepe. Needless to say, I am a huge fan of this place, and am dying to try their other creations. You can also get just the ice cream if you'd like, and they have menu formulas if you're down to try a set menu that they offer for a cheaper price.

My friend got the La Saint-Sauveur (11) which comes with buffalo mozzarella, tomato carpaccio, pine nuts, and an olive oil & balsamic dressing. My galette was delicious - I usually don't care for mustard dressing (or any dressing in that matter) but this one was actually very good! There were three nice slices of bacon on top and the potatoes and cheese were soft. Service was quick (which I was surprised about, because France is notorious for slow service), the restaurant was warm and quiet, great location, and good food that is comparable to other creperies in the city center.
