I visited La Saint George's pre-pandemic while on a business trip to Rennes. I totally enjoyed myself and my meal. The atmosphere was classy for a crepe joint, but probably only average classy ... by French standards. La Saint George was busy on my visit and seemed like a place the locals visited frequently. The cuisine & menu is all about the crepes. The restaurant had French and English menus. My party of 2 Americans and 1 Canadian went for some crepes that were cheeseburger themed. There were cute names for all the crepes. We ordered some cider to go with our meal which was dry and delicious. We had salted caramel dessert crepes that were perfect. The service was exceptional, and the price and value received more than fair. I totally recommend La Saint George and would be happy to eat here again. Bon appetite.

Lots of velvet and funky lamps made this place seem like a nightclub/lounge better found in New York City, not in Rennes. I will admit, all of these things made me hesitate when I walked in. However, their selection of galettes was truly unique. This would be my last galette in Rennes, and I had to make it count. Enter Le Giorgio Armani. Four pieces of magret de canard topped with foie gras and a bit of caramelized apple. It was around 17€ and the most expensive thing on the menu. But it was well worth it. I couldn't believe I had four pieces of magret de canard in addition to foie gras. It was like I'd died and gone to heaven. It took me forever to eat because I couldn't stop "Mmmmm" ing and "ooooooh yummmmmm" ing. If you are looking to splurge, this is what you should get. The previous reviewer complained of dry, cold galettes. I didn't have the same experience at all. For dessert, I ordered a speculoos ice cream and Nutella crêpe. It came with a piece of hazelnut chocolate with a flag of Brittany sticking out of it (nice touch!). I loved the speculoos ice cream, but the Nutella crêpe was not particularly noteworthy. Or maybe my expectations were just too high after my galette. Don't come here unless you want something unusual. This was a perfect last crêperie for my time in France.

Suffice it to say, I tried to rush the owner to accomodate my friends who had a train to catch. He was very patient with us, and we finished dinner with more than enough time to make the train. I felt very silly, especially considering we were a table of six, and there was only one of him, and we had enough time left to order crêpes sucré to finish our meal. And now, the food. I ordered the forêt galette, which had crème fraîche, ham, and green onions. It was superb! I highly recommend this place.

We got seated and were handed menus promptly, and within five minutes of ordering, our food was out. I got the La Trinite galette (9,60) which comes with potatoes, raclette cheese, mushrooms, bacon (like canadian bacon), and salad with a mustard dressing. My friend got the La Saint-Sauveur (11) which comes with buffalo mozzarella, tomato carpaccio, pine nuts, and an olive oil & balsamic dressing. My galette was delicious - I usually don't care for mustard dressing (or any dressing in that matter) but this one was actually very good! There were three nice slices of bacon on top and the potatoes and cheese were soft. Service was quick (which I was surprised about, because France is notorious for slow service), the restaurant was warm and quiet, great location, and good food that is comparable to other creperies in the city center.

Best of all they are open on Sundays, which is when I was in. Finding restaurants open on Sunday in France is no easy task! La Creperie Rennaise provided excellent service. There was also plenty of room on a busy day here. There are multiple stories to the building and restaurant.

Rating: 70/100 pts…read more Rennes is the capital of the Brittany region, and Brittany is the birthplace of crepes, so we can safely deduce that Rennes is the capital of crepes. I came in search of a full-course galette / crepe meal, and was not disappointed. A reliable local recommended "La Gavotte" as being perhaps the best creperie in town, but circumstances prevented me from going this time around, and instead I found myself here, at Saint-Anne. First, the atmosphere is exactly what you'd hope for: rustic and old-worldly; there are sturdy wooden tables and chairs, and massive tree trunks going through the ceiling. I went in the evening, and the place was rollicking like a medieval drinking hall. They have a wide selection of savory galettes and dessert crepes, organized by category. Prices are certainly reasonable. Taste is conservative, is the best sense possible. All batter is cooked fresh to order, and ingredients are fresh. There was such a ruckus of fun going on inside that I don't even clearly remember what we ordered for dinner--but there was definitely goat cheese, prosciutto, and an over easy egg involved, and for dessert, salted caramel butter, nutella, and apples. A basic, traditional creperie that I would not mind repeating.
