Ok people picture this-…read more One cool evening on the streets of central Bordeaux, walking arm in arm with my better half, heading towards my birthday dinner all of a sudden I hear from behind me "Roz" i carry on walking "Roz" I still carry on walking "Roz" ok fine i turn around and there one of my closest friends and ex-flatmate (she moved to sunny Dubai) stood before me. After screaming and hugging in shock (we had not seen each other for years) we agreed to meet the following evening. She picked this place for our little reunion meal and it was perfect. This is one of the most popular seafood places in Bordeaux and seats fill up super quick. We took the tasting menu a combination of prawns, oysters and other shellfish. This was my first time trying Oysters and I loved them. For main I took Seabass and my friend took Salmon both served on a bed of rice and a side of basic green salad. Again fresh, amazing and a sensation for the taste buds. For dessert we shared the pear tart and again wow!!! The staff are very accommodating and friendly and are eager to take time out to explain the menu to you. The restaurant itself has a very rustic yet nautical feel to it. Needless to say we sat there for a good few hours i recall leaving with a semi empty restaurant behind, yet we were not disturbed while we chatted and caught up on our coincidence.

The seafood platter had offerings that aren't usually seen on ice the US . Snails , clams , tiny prawns in addition to oysters , lobsters . Good way to expand your raw seafood palate. We had boiled mussels . Each order is a large bucket so probably one is good enough to share between two . The price is reasonably less expensive than the same amount of seafood in Southern California restaurants.

Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right inside the mall is this very modern-looking, well laid-out restaurant. It gave me "restaurant chain" vibes, but I'm unfamiliar with this company to know if they're actually a chain or not. So I was a bit confused with how things worked regarding ordering, but we figured it out. So there's a big digital menu board straight ahead where you actually order your food before you sit down. This place has so much seating and even some outside for the warmer months! Service: So there isn't exactly table service here because you order your food before you sit down then it gets brought out to you. The gentlemen who took care of us at the host's stand was running the entire restaurant by himself along with one other person then there was someone cooking the food in the back. Dude was BUSY, but he did make time to help us non-French speaking people out and spent some more time with us just chatting even after our dinner was over. However, we did here some pretty severe yelling in the kitchen between 2 people and it could be heard CLEARLY in the restaurant. It made us VERY uncomfortable. One, that kind of discipline shouldn't be used with other employees and two, if you do default to that type of communication, then the restaurant should not be able to hear it. At all. Food: This was another letdown for me. So in the center of Bordeaux there is a restaurant called L'Entrecôte that serves steak and fries, just like this place. That's what I was expecting when dining here, but it isn't what I got. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium-rare like I always do. This steak came out beyond rare. It was in the "blue" category. So I sent it back to be cooked longer and then it came out okay. Still, the steak was a bit chewy, lacked a bit of flavor, lacked seasoning and just wasn't what I was expecting. Value: So, I got the ultimate sort of combo thing where you get a glass of wine, the La Tres Grande, fries, the big steak and a dessert. It was 39.90€. Not bad. I was super full and incredibly satisfied. In conclusion, this place was okay. It wasn't my favorite meal in France, but I can see why people would come here for a good meal.

They'll cook your beef exactly the way you ask it. For beef lovers: note that "Bleu" (blue) in French means "less cooked than rare". They use only local, high quality meat. Everything is great from the steak through the deserts. Highly recommended if you need a quick beef fix before or after shopping! Outdoor seating available. Credit cards OK including AMEX.
