Ok people picture this-…read more One cool evening on the streets of central Bordeaux, walking arm in arm with my better half, heading towards my birthday dinner all of a sudden I hear from behind me "Roz" i carry on walking "Roz" I still carry on walking "Roz" ok fine i turn around and there one of my closest friends and ex-flatmate (she moved to sunny Dubai) stood before me. After screaming and hugging in shock (we had not seen each other for years) we agreed to meet the following evening. She picked this place for our little reunion meal and it was perfect. This is one of the most popular seafood places in Bordeaux and seats fill up super quick. We took the tasting menu a combination of prawns, oysters and other shellfish. This was my first time trying Oysters and I loved them. For main I took Seabass and my friend took Salmon both served on a bed of rice and a side of basic green salad. Again fresh, amazing and a sensation for the taste buds. For dessert we shared the pear tart and again wow!!! The staff are very accommodating and friendly and are eager to take time out to explain the menu to you. The restaurant itself has a very rustic yet nautical feel to it. Needless to say we sat there for a good few hours i recall leaving with a semi empty restaurant behind, yet we were not disturbed while we chatted and caught up on our coincidence.

The seafood platter had offerings that aren't usually seen on ice the US . Snails , clams , tiny prawns in addition to oysters , lobsters . Good way to expand your raw seafood palate. We had boiled mussels . Each order is a large bucket so probably one is good enough to share between two . The price is reasonably less expensive than the same amount of seafood in Southern California restaurants.

During my trip to Bordeaux, I heard amazing things about this place based on the Google reviews…read more(guilty as I didn't know Yelp existed in Europe). There were about 8k reviews - crazy! My mom, boyfriend, and I were in line at 6:40pm (big mistake), and missed the first service by just 4 parties... so we waited for another hour before seating. Thankfully, it was not raining at all. When we got seated, our waiter was very friendly and asked if we spoke English in which he spoke to us throughout the night. There was only one order we could choose from which was the appetizer of salad with pecan and their steak with their house special sauce. They had a huge selection of desserts after the meal, though. We were able to customize the way our steak was prepared and asked for medium rare. The steak did come out a little rarer than what Americans are used to, but that was ok with all of us! The salad came out first, and it was drenched in this delicious oil vinaigrette that my mom really liked. She really enjoyed the salad. The steak was SUPER tender and the sauce, omg. DELICIOUS. Highly addicting even with the complimentary French bread. We just couldn't get enough of this house special sauce! Well, I couldn't. It was some kind of oil vinaigrette + other thing (like a beefy foam?). I couldn't distinguish the taste... but it was delicious! The fries were also fresh and tasted amazing with the sauce. We unfortunately didn't order any drinks or desserts afterwards. But they looked and sounded amazing! Overall, the steak was delicious! This would have definitely gone well with rice but the fries were a nice addition to dip with the house special sauce. Definitely try going at least 30-45 mins before opening. Having to wait an extra 45 mins to an hour was kind of difficult in the cold weather. I also cannot imagine how it'll be in the rain.

The buffet is excellent that you can try many different food. Such seafood salad, braise gizzard, tomato soup, croquettes, charcuterie, slice raw beef, salmon, and more. Love each one of them. My entree is the butter grilled trout. It is a whole fish. Grilled and top with lemon sauce. My wife have the grilled duck breast. The food is great. Recommended during lunch time. Our desserts are tar du jour, it is the pear tart with cream. My wife have the creme brûlée. Bothe dessert is good sweet not too over power sweet. We enjoy our time here. The waitstaff was patient with our non-French skills and explained things to us in very good english. The fixed price menu was a little over 18 euros and included the salad bar, entree and dessert. Salad bar was incredible with foie gras, fresh shrimp and many other tasty delicacies including good quality charcuterie. Plentiful bread at the table and wine was good and cheap. Entree of chicken with cream sauce and fries was really divine, so tender and flavorful I ate every bite. Dessert of chocolate tart was delicious. We came away stuffed.
