(Last visited 7/13/2021.) Hanging out in the area and it's dinnertime so we do our Yelp due-diligence and find this place... Here's how it went...
Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right inside the mall is this very modern-looking, well laid-out restaurant. It gave me "restaurant chain" vibes, but I'm unfamiliar with this company to know if they're actually a chain or not. So I was a bit confused with how things worked regarding ordering, but we figured it out. So there's a big digital menu board straight ahead where you actually order your food before you sit down. This place has so much seating and even some outside for the warmer months!
Service: So there isn't exactly table service here because you order your food before you sit down then it gets brought out to you. The gentlemen who took care of us at the host's stand was running the entire restaurant by himself along with one other person then there was someone cooking the food in the back. Dude was BUSY, but he did make time to help us non-French speaking people out and spent some more time with us just chatting even after our dinner was over. However, we did here some pretty severe yelling in the kitchen between 2 people and it could be heard CLEARLY in the restaurant. It made us VERY uncomfortable. One, that kind of discipline shouldn't be used with other employees and two, if you do default to that type of communication, then the restaurant should not be able to hear it. At all.
Food: This was another letdown for me. So in the center of Bordeaux there is a restaurant called L'Entrecôte that serves steak and fries, just like this place. That's what I was expecting when dining here, but it isn't what I got. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium-rare like I always do. This steak came out beyond rare. It was in the "blue" category. So I sent it back to be cooked longer and then it came out okay. Still, the steak was a bit chewy, lacked a bit of flavor, lacked seasoning and just wasn't what I was expecting.
Value: So, I got the ultimate sort of combo thing where you get a glass of wine, the La Tres Grande, fries, the big steak and a dessert. It was 39.90€. Not bad. I was super full and incredibly satisfied.
In conclusion, this place was okay. It wasn't my favorite meal in France, but I can see why people would come here for a good meal. read more
