My girlfriend and I were recommended this spot by a friend who lives just nearby, as one of the best pizzas in town. Given that we both are extremely found of pizza and that at that point we were living pretty close to it too, we went ahead and stopped to check it out. Oh boy, we were not disappointed. To start off, you will basically hear Italian all the time there. While the staff speaks French and decent English, they communicate between themselves in Italian, with a lot of incoming customers being Italian as well. It's a great sign in general and here it was confirmed. They have a large selection of different pizzas, once again - all for a reasonable price, that are baked on a thin, chewy crust and with an abundance of toppings - basically the way pizza is supposed to be done. They also have an abundance of authentic appetizers while you are waiting for your pizza to arrive and serve you some bread. Overall a great experience! While this place isn't the best Italian or best Pizza of Lausanne in my opinion, it is nonetheless a great find and is definitely one of the best price/quality ratios around. I can but recommend it.

The pizza base is tasty, thin but soft, made with olive oil. The tomato sauce is homemade and the mozzarella is very good. It's an original recipe from Napoli. We tried the pizza margherita and one called BioFrat with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella buffalo, basil and oregano. Yum! They have delivery service too. Really a funny restaurant where Italian people sit, eat and chat at the only big table it has. The price is below average and the service is very friendly.

The restaurant itself has picnic tables to sit outside and you can view the chefs making the dough as you are ordering your pizzas. You can't go wrong with your order but everything is delicious. Service was fairly quick; 20 minutes for 5 pizzas and over a dozen empanadas.

There are some benches and lawn chairs in the front of the place. Like many businesses in France, this place is only open for lunch (12-2pm) and dinner (6-10pm). The owner operates by himself and during dinner time there are a lot of pick up orders, so expect a wait of up to 40 minutes. But the wait is well worth it. And be patient, there's only the owner doing everything. If there are no orders ahead of you, the wait is as little as 10 minutes. Some years ago we had a really good pizza in Italy and have been searching for something similar to no avail. At La Roulotte we finally found the perfect thin crust, wood fired pizza. We've tried fancy places in the US that claim to be Neapolitan pizza certified but honestly those can't even hold a candle to this place. We tried four different pizzas in our two visits here: Napolitaine: tomato base, mozarella, olives, capers, olives and oregano Forestiere: cream, mozzarella, mushrooms, onions, bacon, ham, garlic Romana: tomato, mozzarella, parma ham (or breasola), tomatoes, arugula, basil Valdostana: tomato, mozzarella, smoked bacon, egg, garlic Honestly I liked all of the pizzas. The crust was just perfect. Out of the four, the Forestiere and Romana are the real winners. I really liked the Valdostana too, the egg on it tasted really fresh. The Napolitaine got a little too salty, with the capers, olives and anchovies attacking your tastebuds at the same time.
