But the beds are comfortable, shower has great water pressure, and the staff is extremely friendly. Location is great as you can walk around town easily. Only issue that I don't think you can fix, as you can hear other rooms sometimes. Breakfast is good. I would definitely recommend for a few nights went in town.

The largest and most intricate gardens of any of the chateaus in the valley. Some of them are flowers and shrubs, others are fruit-bearing plants, but they're all beautiful. The interior of the chateau, don't get me wrong, is quite nice as well. Several rooms are intricately detailed, but the gardens are the big draw here. A nice touch, there are a couple boutiques where you can buy souvenirs, of course, but one of the boutiques is geared towards gardening, which is very on brand for this chateau. Also nice, you can buy seeds from the gardens for your home garden, very nice touch! If you're planning to travel here and have a home garden, look into your country's laws regarding bringing home seeds as that could be quite the nice souvenir.

The Manoir has several rooms in the main house as well as several more in the "boat house". Its location is perfect to visit all of the northern coast sites and is easy to find. The staff is very efficient and quality oriented. Everything in and around the Manoir is clean and well kept. On several occasions I have asked for restaurant recommendations and every time we have been very impressed with the food. I can say that Jacques and Alix are always prepared to provide recommendations for a day trip, all of the details and even make reservations for you if recquired. Just minutes to the town of Bayeux (and the famous Tapestry) or all of the Normandy WW2 sites/Museums/Cemeteries. Easy Drive to Mont St. Michael and the beautiful coast of norther France. Just ask Jacques and he will gladly be your tour designer, answering questions, providing historical context, providing maps, making great suggestions, etc. If you are a Band of Brothers fan, you are very close to all the key areas of the 101st airborne activities from D-Day (episodes 2 and 3). Carentan and Brecourt Manor are just a short drive away. There is also a number of monuments and museums that honor those great men. If you are a fan of Saving Private Ryan then you have all of the cities and sights all within easy reach. The opening and closing scene were shot in the American cemetery in Coleville. An absolute must see. I cannot say enough about how much we love staying at this B&B. I do not think you can find a better combination of location, quality and people anywhere in France. This is a must stay if you are headed north of Paris.

The beds were also excellent and the bathrooms spacious. We were totally blown away by the quality. To top it all off, the location is perfect. Just a few blocks from the city center, and as a result many restaurants. We never had to walk more than 10 minutes any evening for our dinner reservations. Oysters were also amazing - as was the foil gras. To be clear: we've found the service in France to generally be well above expectation. 90% of our service in France has been amazing - and we've found the servers to be attentive, engaged, and overall outstanding. The only server on the night of April 23 was entirely different. In a quiet restaurant on a slow Sunday night - we were largely ignored by our server. Requests to order desert were dismissed with "no desert for you." After complaining about the delay - we continued to wait for 30 minutes for desert to arrive. At this reportedly Michelin star restaurant - we ended up going to the bar to settle the bill - after waiting another 20 minutes. When we tried to voice our concern regarding the service - we were told that we needed to speak French (by the waiter who spoke English the entire night). We love France. We love French foods and the restaurants. We don't expect impeccable service. However, when spending 400 Euros on a meal at a highly rated restaurant with great food - we expect that the service will match the food and the bill. Hoping that management sees this and addresses the very significant shortfall of service with the front of house employees. Strongly recommend avoiding this establishment anytime soon. There appears to be 1 waiter for the dining room. And a high likelihood that you'll be confronted with the same service. The server seemed more engaged and responsive with the French customers - so perhaps if you're French you'll receive acceptable service here. Otherwise, stay away.
