If you are over on this side of Sigonella and need a bite to eat, a stop at Piazza Pizza in Midtown…read moreis, usually, a good choice. Slices, which are displayed in the window, are always available, but you can also order a pie to go or to eat there. Pizza isn't the only option as this eatery has a window on each side (one in front of the movie theater and one inside the bowling alley). Typical bowling alley style snacks are available like chicken nuggets, fries, and so on. You can also get a caffe, espresso, and pastries if you are so inclined. One thing that Italy doesn't really have, compared to the U.S., is a good place to have breakfast. Now, you can go get a caffe and pastry (which is Italian culture), but that's not what I'm talking about. When you live here for as long as most of us do, we miss certain things about home. One of those things, for myself, was breakfast. We can go to the galley, but even the galley gets old after awhile. Every few weeks, we'd get up early on Sunday and head over here to have breakfast with a few friends. While the menu was small, it felt like you were eating at one of those Smalltown USA diners.

So as a occupant of the NGIS I visit this "fine" establishment a bit more frequently than I would…read morelike. The personal pan pizzas are the way to go. They are perfect( best way to explain it). The large that I got was very chewy and the cheese slid of the pizza. The wings are great as well. They are either wing and flats or combined pieces. The cheese sticks and breadsticks while good were cold when I picked them up. It's on base pizza and it will hit the spot almost all the time.

Friends visiting Taormina, you are going to see recommendations to go to Bambam, Tischi Toschi, De…read moreRita, etc. but...please do yourself a favor and hit this place one the first day you stay. I had reservations at all of the big name restaurants in town (swordfish, norma, granita, blah blah) and none of them compare to this place. My wife and I went almost everyday. The fact that this place isn't busting from the seems when you can see a line at bambam around to corner is laughable - I promise, you will see it having down time, go in and get a ragu arancini, the cheese slice is surprisingly excellent, prosciutto and mushroom slice also very good. Bambam is good if you like granitas, but my experience is that it's a tourist trap and the staff is cringeworthingly annoyed if you ask a question. Christina has way better prices, a bunch of good options, is efficient if you have lots of activities planned and need a spot to in/out quickly, and the staff is friendly. Very grateful we found this place early. There is also a focaccia spot up the street with a similar story - Limoncello spritz and focaccia (don't think theyre connected but 8$ focaccia that is light and fresh, workers are also very friendly). While we were there, saw so many people pass by, glance and walk out likely because it didn't have the glamour of a long line, trust a stranger that researched sicily for months before coming, don't make that mistake here. Chuck 3$ of your likely thousands budget, gamble and youll know exactly what I mean. Not suggesting you don't try to Taormina specialties, try everything, but this place is a great pillar spot for quick/delicious food if you're staying for more than a few days.

Visited Da Cristina while in Taormina -- because you can't come to Sicily and not have arancini…read more The setup is very casual with fast ordering, though expect a long wait (worth it). Service was efficient despite the crowds. We tried the prosciutto and cheese arancini, and honestly, it was the first time I truly enjoyed one -- the cheese and prosciutto melted together perfectly, with great texture and flavor. Overall, a classic Taormina stop and definitely worth a visit. Saluti
