Yet they do care about providing consistent service regardless if you are a local or a tourist. On a cold day, I highly recommend a grog, they are not shy on the amount of rum provided in the drink. A sure bet with a family atmosphere where everyone is welcomed and yet powerful drinks are being served. Basically this is my kind of place.

You might not like that table, and the hostess seemed hesitant when offering it, but we found it to be a good spot for watching all the happenings going on with the staff and the take out business. I have not seen such a hard working staff in a long time! Their managers should commend them. Very professional, courteous, helpful, even though we don't know much French Beyoncé "merci". It turns out the food is as good as the service. For a starter we had a small bottle of red wine. We asked for the boldest, driest red they had and what was delivered did not disappoint. "Centosere Pala" It's shown in my photos. Some focaccia bread was delivered and we asked for olive oil and balsamic. Oh my that bread is fantastic. For dinner we split a Pork Milanese with Frits and a Calabrese calzone only made as a pizza so as to have less bread. Both were excellent! Truly the best meal we have had in a while. For desert we had a couple of items that I don't recall the names but they were also excellent. Mine was a pistachio ice cream with a nougat of caramel in the center, hers was meringues with vanilla ice cream drenched in espresso with whipped cream. I haven't seen her so happy in a long while! We enjoyed these with a couple of very large cappuccino's. I may never get back to this part of the world again, but if I do I will return here! There is one other review here, in Italian, and it's "not recommended" and so it is hidden. I read it. It's positive and it's accurate. No clue why they would hide it.

I had the Parma pizza (20CHF) - really good but a tad too much cheese (and I love cheese!) The pizzas probably take a bit longer to cook as it took about 20min from time of order to be served, but the restaurant was also busy. It is about 3 blocks from the Super Pleney lift and 2 blocks from the Super Morzine lift, which puts it in a great location to either lift. But mainly it was between our hotel and the Super Pleney lift which meant great beer after a long day of terrifying skiing that was much needed. The brewery is run by a guy from London who was at Camden brewery before deciding that he wanted to open up his own brewery. Since the brewer is from London, most of the beer are good, solid ales. They do go to the American side a bit by adding more hops (which I enjoy) but there beer is very good. The three nights we were in Morzine, we ate and drank at Bec Jaune every single night. This was a mix of ease of location, nothing bad there, and very well priced compared to other places around Morzine. They do not charge ski resort prices, which made us happy. Besides making great beer, their food menu isn't very extensive but tasty. We tried a Burrito Bowl - a large serving bowl with rice, black beans, avocados, sour cream, chicken, and salsa, burgers, large potato wedges, and their chili. After a long day of skiing and not much eating these healthy portions helped us get through the night. I do not feel bad for not giving any other places in Morzine a chance because Bec Jaune is a great brewery that serves good food.
