The perfect pizza, ham, arugula
Alice G.

This restaurant came highly recommended by some freinds, and we didn't want to leave San Sebastián without trying it. We barely made it before closing but they were kind enough to serve us. They close at 4pm sharp and reopen for dinner at 7:30. The staff was awesome and helpful. The food was delicious! I was so jealous of my husband's pizza so we are going back tonight so the I can order a pizza for myself. It was worth getting lost for.

The pastas!

When that pasta cravings hit!! I lasted without any pasta for a week! Paris - Bordeaux - San Sebastián, Spain! A whole 8 days!! That was crazy long! Not that tapas aren't great. Tapas are amazing!! So cheap! So tasty! Especially here. They go straight to the point: no veggies and stuffing cheese stuff! It's meat, offals! And octopus! Squid! Shrimp! So affordable too! You bar hop for tapas! The problem is everyone in town does that tapa hop too!! It's so busy every night!! Thursday's Friday's are the worst!! It was my last night in San Sebastián! I've been to all the top tapas bar. At this point i was doing a repeat visit!! And really not in the mood to wait!! Probably a good thing! Came here pre-tapas!! And yumm! Only place in this area without the huge lines! It was still pretty full. Really pretty spot: white, bright with causal setting but 3-4x bigger than most tapas bar! You have huge tables! Not standing and eating. Huge pizza oven! Massive coffee bar! It is as Italian as I am Spanish! :) None of the workers speak Italian. Say what? It was ok! They sent the English speaking waiter to our table! :P. He didn't get a word of Italian! He spoke broken English. But no confusion in spaghetti bolognese or carbonara is there!? Food was good. I really wanted the hearty meaty bolognese. Didn't quite like it. That's when ordering in two came in handy! Carbonara was actually pretty good!! Surprisingly! Really enjoyed it!! The problem: protein is almost non existent in most dishes. Which was a ok since I was going for octopus, beef hearts and then some for tapas right after! A glass of libation, 2 bottles of small water, few espressos and pastas later! I left a very happy girl!! Left to wait in line for my favorite tapas bar!! Woot woot!! It was pretty cheap too!! Totally a fan!

Mushroom ravioli
Lindsey N.

Stumbled upon this place while looking for a place to eat and the pictures of the ravioli looked delicious. We waited about 15-20 minutes for a table for four, but the workers were nice. Like every other place in Spain, the restaurant is small so it got very crowded in the front when more people came to wait for a table. There is an English menu for those who can't read Spanish!! I opted for the mushroom ravioli that also comes with ham on top. The ravioli was pretty tasty with a white creamy sauce. The ham went great with the cheesy ravioli. There are 7 pieces of ravioli which didn't really fill me up, so I suggest ordering an appetizer. My friends ordered the spinach ravioli. They said there was a hint of a blue cheese taste so if you don't like blue cheese, you may not like this. Overall, service was great. Food came out surprisingly fast and our waitress was super friendly and accommodating. They also have cheap coffee and a nice selection of gelato for dessert if you're still hungry!

Starters: assorted Spanish olives, tomato, arugula & burrata salad.

After dining a week in Spain with another couple the idea of some pizza and a salad sounded very appealing. We stumbled upon this restaurant among the Pintxo bars in the old town of San Sebastián. We were incredibly surprised how amazing everything was that we ordered. Started with mixed olives, fresh sliced tomato & arugula salad with buratta cheese drizzled lightly with a basil pesto sauce. The waitress suggested that we order a basket of bread which was a type of bread crisps made from what may have been pizza dough. Light, airy & perfect with the tomatoes. The meal was completed with a margarita & 4 cheese pizzas. Both incredibly good & would rival many places in NY/NJ.

Absolutely the best Italian food. Lasagna is 10/10. Lived the Bolognese and burrata salad as well. Highly recommend checking it out.

Great place if you're getting sick of all the tapas-style meals. The walnut cheese ravioli was amazing!

The waitress was very friendly and immediately got our Tinto Sangria and made it at our table (best Sangria I had in Spain).

Portions are generous. Flavors are big and balanced. Just delicious, whether seafood or meat or vegetables. We had scallops in a deep seafood stock, grilled hake with Thai infused coconut milk and lobster oil, and classic Indian butter chicken. Each dish outstanding on its own, all from one kitchen is wow. Presentation is thoughtful and beautiful. Vibe is cool without trying to be cool. Feels relaxed. Fun music playing without being loud or intrusive. Staff are fun and friendly and precise in their care. And to take it all to the next level was our host, Cesar. Not just thoughtful and welcoming but his passion for each dish and the care and thought that goes into them was obvious. His joy is genuine and we appreciated him sharing details with us so we could be part of the fun. In a city with so much wonderful food, La Madame stands out because it is a sit down restaurant, serving fresh and inspired and delicious food, with care and creativity and obsessive detail and pure happiness. Make a reservation, it's worth it. And take in the joy Cesar shares with you through every dish.

Good Many people had…read moresaid this place was amazing. The service was really good. The Scallops and Hamburger were really good from what the people in our group ordered. The scallops were a main course but only had 5 scallops not starch or vegetables, great flavor. So both that ordered the scallops thought they should be more to the dish. The large prawns from Ecuador influence was delicious with basil and peanut sauce. Everyone said the Indian influenced butter chicken was best dish of the night. The pork potsticker from Vietnam Was really nice. The waiter we had took us on a great food journey during the description. The cocktails were great with a nice variety. The Bad: My group had a 4 star experience I had a 3 star experience. To start we were a party of 6 and they only brought 3 menus and they asked me for my order before I was even able to look at the menu. So having to wait on looking at the menu was rather rude in my opinion each customer should get a menu. So started off with a negative. Especially since they were asking us to order when 2-3 people hadn't even looked at the menu. The waiter should let everyone know to share the menus when they only bring three menus for a party of 6. I ordered the Wellington 2.0 It should be called .5 For me it wasn't an improvement on a beef Wellington it was not even half a beef Wellington. It was a take on Beef Wellington. But the puff pastry was an after thought that didn't even cover the top of my steak. They said the steak would be medium and recommended that. It was just below medium rare very blood. The broccoli was cooked okay but not really seasoned. I had never had parsnips but figured I would try something new it had foie Gras, also so I now know this combination is not for me. See photos So I don't recommend Wellington 2.0 Unless you just very rare medium rare, with parsnip purées and foie Gras.
