Had a wonderful time celebrating Valentine's Day at La Posta. The staff handled a full house with ease and the atmosphere still felt intimate. The food was delicious. My favorite was the polenta, it was so smooth and creamy. Everything was really excellent, though. I highly recommend La Posta.

Sooo good! Our waiter was super sweet and accommodating, explaining each item on the menu to us to help us pick through all the options! We settled with these items and of course lemon cake (not photographed). Was a great date night with a warm ambiance.

We sat outside at La Posta. Their outside seating is a transformed parking area. It isn't fancy, but is comfortable. All of the dishes we tried were fresh and perfectly prepared. The service was pleasant and prompt. As a starter, we shared market greens with a sherry-shallot vinaigrette and shaved Parmesan. The greens were fresh and the dressing was light but flavorful. We also had an order of the homemade sourdough bread, which had a perfect crust. For main courses, we ordered the halibut and the lamb chops, sharing back and forth. The proteins were perfectly cooked. Both had a nice sear and were still moist. The halibut was served with pole beans and fingerling potatoes; both were delicious. The lamb chops were served with small beans and tomatoes. Also delicious. We ended our meal with the chocolate panna cotta with cherries. It was light, but flavorful. All of the food was so good that my husband ordered a pizza to go for the next day! La Posta is a casual Santa Cruz spot that is using the freshest ingredients and perfectly preparing them. The setting isn't glamorous, but the food is better than you find at some of the fancier places.

We decided to meet a friend in Santa Cruz and because of their dog we chose this restaurant that offers outdoor seating restaurant is Quaintance small but the backyard is pretty large parking can be somewhat of a challenge, but we manage to find the location quickly. The selection is entirely Italian wines so if you're looking for the New World wines, you're gonna have a hard time finding anything, they have a large selection of Italian wines depending on your budget you can spend over several hundred dollars or you can find one for around $50-$60. The menu changes regularly and this particular night I decided to have the squid pasta with seafood I was disappointed to say the least because the flavor and when I asked for Parmesan, the waitress told me that they charge extra, part of the meal was the appetizers were very good and fresh made bread with butter a great start. They have heaters in the back which kept us warm. The short ribs were excellent

From the moment I got there, everyone was super kind and welcoming. I didn't get her name, but the beautiful young lady who was all tatted, she made our experience so memorable. Black Truffle Stuffed Gnocchi ($25): This dish was creamy and so delicious! The gnocchi was cooked perfectly, and the tomatoes gave it a fresh, nice touch. My only complaint is that the portion size is a bit on the smaller side. Sunday Gravy ($25): This dish included Italian sausage, spare ribs, beef, and pork, served with rigatoni pasta. I loved how meaty it was, yet it didn't feel heavy. Some pastas leave you feeling weighed down after eating, but not this one. It could have used a little more seasoning, but overall, it was a solid dish.

We had six people in total and all together ordered the short rib ravioli, seafood stew, spaghetti and meatballs, roasted beets, French onion soup, potatoes with dip, a salad and a pizza. My favorite bite was the lasagna. The top had nicely melted and crispy cheese... very good! I also enjoyed the crispy potatoes with dip. The French onion soup didn't have a lot of color, but it still had a very distinct and tasty flavor. Outside of the food, the restaurant has a great outdoor area that's dog friendly! There is also a nice sized private parking lot. Oh, and if you pay in cash, there's a discount! Cons- I was craving spaghetti and meatballs, it just sounded so good to me! This was I think it's the first time I've ever ordered it at a restaurant (usually make it at home!) while I thought the dish had good flavor, I felt the pasta was slightly overcooked. It was not al dente... the meatballs also didn't have a lot of color, so that was disappointing. The seafood stew a friend ordered was small. She said it was good, but we overheard someone at a different table say that the stew used to be huge and it currently is not... Coloring... typically color equals flavor, so it was odd that several dishes had little coloring, but they did still taste good! Some things I didn't care as much for, but we all enjoyed the flavors of each dish...

Overall, the ambiance and service were great, the food not so much. Here you go: Food - 3/5: We started with 2 apps - the special 'wings and beer' and margherita flatbread. The wings came out almost instantaneously which was the first sign - they had been sitting and were just reheated. The flatbread was loaded with cheese, not a lot of flavor. Our mains consisted of Caesar salad, chicken picatta, braised short ribs, and burger. The Caesar salad had a hair, the braised short ribs were fatty and no sauce over a hardened lump of dry polenta that appeared to be reheated, and the chicken picatta was just ok. Service - 4/5: We were the first seated so service was very attentive and the manager was very friendly. The issue with salad was handled professionally and taken off the bill. Vibe - 4/5: Nice, clean aesthetic. We sat inside but there is a small patio with umbrellas and flowers/shrubs for street privacy. There were only about 15-20 tables inside and a small bar area.
