They had added many more picnic benches that kind of line the street and have a few at the end of the little street overlooking the water. So, you pick out your seafood, stand in line and when it's your turn you tell them how you want it cooked. We ordered a meal that consisted of 7 large fried shrimp(crumbled prawn cutlets)and order of fries and a large bottled soda. Total check was $24 AUDs....about $16US. Our number was quickly called and we retrieved our food. Sat outside and had a delightful late afternoon lunch/early dinner. The shrimp were perfectly cooked. And the fries were plentiful and nicely seasoned with salt. Both the shrimp and fries had a nice crisp. Remember this is a fish market. Service is great if you are ok standing in line for a boating to order. Staff is there willing to help Seafood is described as to type and labeled whether it is freshly caught or has been previously frozen. What more does one want. A walk up and down the strip reading menus and surveying the scene landed me at Shuck Restaurant and Bar. I started with a half of a dozen oysters. I wanted to try both the Sydney Rock and Natural Pacific and they were kind enough to serve me three of each. The Pacifics were oyster perfection - briny and meaty and tasting fresh from the sea. The Sydneys were not to my taste - somewhat flavorless and a bit sweet if anything. To each their own....YMMV. I followed them with the Moreton Bay Bug Tempura served in an onion salad with nori and a wasabi sauce. The bugs were fried lusciousness and the salad a tasty crunchy accompaniment. In a perfect world there would have been less sauce (and perhaps more wasabi in the sauce)...but that isn't really a complaint so much as a note for next time. I chose an Ara Chardonnay to accompany my meal. In a perfect world a Chenin Blanc would be offered...but I've since learned that neither Australia nor New Zealand grows a lot of the grape. The atmosphere is fun and open - I had an exterior table and watched the world walk by. The service was wonderful.

This restaurant was part of the Marriott Hotel and is über classy! The minute you arrive, you are greeted and walk through part of the buffet. They position the seafood in the front for a reason. This buffet is clean and full of options. You can have seafood, meat, pizza, noodles, salad, etc. There is definitely something do everyone but the seafood is the standout. I ate crab, crab, and more crab. It was SO fresh!!!!!! I was so happy because it's been ages since I have had crab and it hit the spot. They also had scallops, oysters, prawns, and more! The only seafood missing was lobster but that's OK because the crab was outstanding. I also tried Moreton bay bugs for the first time and I was pleased. It was cooked with garlic and spices so the flavours were so nice. As if you couldn't fill up on the main course, they have a decadent dessert section that includes make your own ice, sundaes, and endless cake, tarts, and fresh fruit. My host family including my nine year old host sister loved the buffet. I think everyone can find something and the staff were super friendly.
