First off, the "parking" isn't a parking lot at all -- it's literally a small dirt/grass hill on the side of the road. It's not obvious, easy to miss, and fits maybe 2-3 cars max. I had to do a U-turn just to even attempt parking. Once parked, I walked over expecting a trail entrance and instead found a short double-gated fence with locks on it. No clear entrance, no signage, no posted hours, nothing. I checked online and couldn't find any info saying it was closed. What made it worse is that older Yelp photos show a trail sign with the name on it -- that sign is completely gone now. The area honestly feels abandoned. This listing hasn't been updated in years, and that really shows. Save yourself the drive and frustration. Definitely not worth it.

So we thought what else is there to do. This place came up on Google Maps and instantly we got curious. Getting here is fairly straightforward. However there are no signs or banners or anything. Your gps directions will just abruptly end and you'll see a wooden structure that has the title French Valley Wildlife Area engraved in it. There's parking for about 5 cars right on site. From there, it's a very nice trial that goes throughout the flat land. We felt our spirits lifted seeing so much energy and space. Definitely a change from the congested city life. Can't wait to go back here again :)

Lots of fish carcasses on the ground and one racoon. Lots of ducks and a Crane scared the crap out of me! The people there were diverse anyone is welcome. There is a parking lot that includes handicap parking and there are 2 portable toilets and trash cans in the lot. The shore fishing is sectional- to the left is an area where you can back up and fish from your Vehicle, I'm not sure if it is private or city owned- to the right is a nice BBQ restaurant with tables. Whiskers shore fishing area can provide a certain amount of room depending the amount of anglers and how many rods they have J would say a 6' btwn rods would good. We arrived at 6 am and were 1st to set up so go early!! We fished for catfish and carp and landed 4 carp using homemade dough bait. No bites on catfish bait- shrimp and livers. Good luck out there using top water we seen numerous bass and carp jumping out. We look forward on returning and testing the BBQ place next door.

I mean, for a public park…read more Although, it's one of those restrooms that doesn't have a main door, so I felt a little exposed because there was a soccer game going on near the bathroom, and some men were hanging out near there. But other than that, the restroom was very clean and tidy. The playground was fun and offered things for kids of all ages to play on. There were slides (including a funky wavy slide), little rock walls, tunnels, swings, things to climb and lots more. The playground surface is wood chips and rubber. There is lots of shade on the playground equipment and in the surrounding areas. Lakepoint Park is situated on Lake Elsinore, and you can see and access the lake right from the park.

We found the blue prints of the original plans at the Hemet Library in the historical section. They lied so many different ways from Sunday to get these plans approved, but... they were. The Cafe that was supposed to be there isn't along with a few more amenities. This was a quarry that turned into a lake that was supposed to attract so many new fishing tourists and utterly failed. To start with it is only open Wednesdays through Sundays. The marina and lake access are typically open from 5:45 am to 4:15 pm, though hours can vary, with last entry at 3:15 pm. The lake is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The boat rentals are outrageous and coming back so early is horrible. The only thing I've ever caught here are dead birds stuck floating due to fishing line never being removed from the trees above water. I have seen fish here. None of them look healthy except the trout they have shipped in trout stocking season that typically runs from November to April. You have to pay to park, you have to pay to fish, you have to pay to walk, you have to pay, pay, pay. This is outrageous. Now you have hired people sitting in lawn chairs with umbrellas making sure you aren't walking the trail for free? #epicfail. I tried to walk down to the boat launch today to see where the water level was because I'd considered trying to come back again... I was stopped. I was told that because I didn't pay that I am not longer able to walk down to the docks for liability reasons. Are you serious? So if I paid $4 to walk the trail, or the $9 to fish then I would no longer be in danger? I am over you. It's only 45 minutes to two separate lakes that are much better. Have a good day.
