We just moved to MH yesterday and decided to try La Paloma as our congratulations to us dinner which did not disappoint!! We arrived to a somewhat empty parking lot...my husband wanted to go elsewhere; I went with my gut feeling that diners were choosing to eat later than our 5:30 choice. I enjoyed the beautifully prepared MH margarita, husband a Midelo. Guac and cheese dip for apps...yum! Dinner...WOW!! Paloma chimichanga devoured quickly by my wonderful one, molcajete was my choice...DELICIOUS, tender and as always, plenty for left overs!! We recently moved to Mountain Home from Baton Rouge and have wanted to try this place. Stopped by today and the food was great. Steak tacos and fajitas were spot on. I don't like giving 1 star reviews, but the wife and i ordered the "mixed fajitas for 2" (29.99), and trying to find meat was worse than "wheres waldo". There were zero slices of beef or pork. A vegetarian might notice the meat. Pork nachos were really good, have had better fajitas at gas stations in texas though. Waitress was about as friendly as a copperhead decided my return policy to be honest. read more

Probably my favorite place for a nice Mexican meal in Mountain Home. Perhaps slightly more expensive than some of the other places in town but they use high quality ingredients and the presentation and taste are top-notch. They also have excellent drinks with fresh ingredients and service has always been top-notch. Well worth a visit. Atmosphere is still a work-in-progress as it is a new restaurant. Some softer lighting and more sedate music would do wonders for this place, it has the potential to be very nice. read more

La Paloma has only been open for a little more than two weeks, but I have been there five times. Mountain Home's newest Mexican restaurant is by far my favorite with a large, unique menu like no other. Like most places, you're started with a little pitcher and bowl of salsa and basket of chips. The salsa is so good, be careful not to fill up on it. The tomatoes are chunky and fresh, with chunks of onion and lots of cilantro for a real earthy, herby flavor. I love it. The combo meals are a good way to try a few things at once and all the items come with ground beef. I like the burritos and tacos and while I'm not usually a fan of red enchilada sauce, La Paloma's is great. Chimichanga? Great also with shredded beef, side salad and rice and beans. While rice and beans are usually a bland side at other Mexican restaurants, La Paloma cooks their rice in broth so it's moist and flavorful. The beans don't look attractive, but they are flavorful and I always clean my plate. They have a lot of seafood dishes I'm looking forward to trying, along with a couple of lamb dishes. The decor is nice and cozy and the music is a combination of American and contemporary Spanish which is a nice change. The bar is fully stocked and offers numerous craft cocktails. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. Do yourself a favor and go ASAP. read more

I ordered the Carne Asada combination and the steak was 50 % fat that was not even trimmed of and it was tough and not much meat either! The beans were like Gerber baby food mush and very little rice to speak of! I've to other Mexican restaurants in Mountain Home which are better! Coming from Los Angeles I know good Mexican food and Mountain Home has bland tasting Mexican cuisine but I am willing to try a different dish at this establishment! Ordered the Choriqueso, Mt. Home margarita, and Carne Asada. The choriqueso dip was delicious! The salsa was very good and the in-house chips were thick and fluffy. The carne asada was very good and cooked perfectly. Atmosphere is very nice and the staff are very friendly; especially attentive when anything was running low. Really enjoyed the meal and drinks with friends. Next time I'm in town I will absolutely come again! I hope this place becomes a local favorite soon! read more

Not happy with the prices and food. You cannot tell the taste... difference between an beef enchilada and a burrito. It was disappointing that there were no diced tomatoes, onions, real ground beef, etc inside. It was just plain mushy beef with no flavor. read more

Was very, very disappointed in my dinner. Had the combo burrito, taco and enchilada each one had the same ingredients, seasoned ground hamburger, the only difference was the shell and the taco had a very small amount of lettuce. I had spoken highly about this restaurant when it first opened but my last 2 visits have been disappointing. read more

This was our 1st time and let me tell you it was GREAT! My wife had the Roasted Poblano with Chicken. It was a huge portion with plenty of big chunks of chicken. She loved it! I had the Beef Paloma Chimichanga, it was amazing. I had expected ground beef as is the norm around here, I was shocked to see actual shredded beef! They didn't skimp at all. If I could give this place minus 5 stars, I would! I came to visit family here in Mountain Home and we decided we would go check out La Palomas. We ordered fresh guacamole and it was completely bland. The salsa is just tomato paste with no spice or flavor at all. We ordered the bean burrito, and shredded beef burrito and a side of greens. These meals were just down right gross! The beans, tortillas, and shredded beef had absolutely no taste to them what so ever. There was some kind of Saran Wrap/plastic like white cheese sauce "I think" covering the burritos which was hard like a plastic coating. The greens were partially rotten and completely wilted. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague, you will be very disappointed if you go and spend your hard earned money on this experience. read more

You can actually taste the cilantro unlike most Mexican restaurants. The rice was ok, the beans while a different color were very tasty as was the cheese dip. Stand alone sheet metal bldg. with concrete floors & interesting industrial light fixtures off the main drag. Ample portions plated well but the Paloma Chimichangas was served with a PURÉE of beans with not a single distinguishable BEAN. See photos. The pico de gallo was a small amount of wilted greens with a minuscule amount of tomato & the tiniest drizzle of something white that was supposed to be sour cream. Perhaps it was thinned down with water, like the beans. The chimi did have an ample amount of shredded, but stringy chicken. A small (1/2 c.) serving of rice appeared to be a parboiled product, also lacking any identifiable flavor/seasoning. Queso blanco was ok, salsa ok. Corn chips ok, not warm or crispy. Overall, a dreadful dining experience for me. My dining partner had a chicken pasta that had ample chicken & pasta, drowned in a green sauce that was perhaps Alfredo mixed with tomatillo? Showed up at 8:30pm, 30 minutes before close. Only reason we we ended up here is it was July 5th and everything else was closed. Blown away. This is not your small town cookie cutter Mexican restaurant. The food was amazing. Menu is very original.
