This is a high-end restaurant located to the right of the lobby as you walk into the Hotel Puerta Madrid. The setting is lovely and the food was ok. The service on the other hand, was a bit lower that you would expect based on the overall feel of the restaurant. Prompt, but not particularly friendly. There is a 2-course (3 if you like) menu that is reasonably priced, as is the wine-by-the-glass (4 Euros for a very nice Rioja). The amuse they sent out was lightly picked anchovies with olives and croutons. The anchovies were delicious! Next was a cold salad of grilled langoustines over rice noodles with picked wild mushrooms. The individual components were fine (although I found the texture of the mushrooms odd), but they did not work together. Not at all. Last was the roasted pork. The apples on the side were too sweet, but the pork was well cooked and juicy. Only problem? It came with the skin, which had not been crisped up. Kind of an unappealing texture. Overall, my experience was ok (I'm challenged giving them a 2, though I thought about it), but probably not a place that warrants a return visit. read more
