So glad they were open when we stopped by! Tuscania is truly a must-visit Italian spot. From the…read moremoment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting, and everyone at our table left with delicious meals and an all-around happy mood. I started with a glass of Moscato that was perfectly chilled and just the right amount of sweet--light, refreshing, and not overpowering. For my appetizer, I had the bruschetta, which was fresh and flavorful, topped with juicy tomatoes, fragrant basil, and a drizzle of balsamic, toasted bread. For my main dish, I ordered the four-cheese gnocchi, and it did not disappoint. The gnocchi were soft and pillowy, coated in a rich, creamy blend of cheeses that was indulgent without being too heavy. Every bite was comforting and full of flavor. Highly recommend stopping here if you're craving authentic, satisfying Italian food in a welcoming setting. It's also a great place for great conversation--the cozy ambiance and unhurried pace make it easy to sit back, relax, and enjoy the moment.

The restaurant is 100 meters away on the plaza which is also where we checked-in. Ristorante Italiano Tuscana has an extensive menu of antipasti, pastas, meat dishes, desserts, and a full bar. They have an indoor, air-conditioned dining room and tables outdoors on the plaza. The food was very good, the portions appropriate, and the prices fair. We ate there twice and enjoyed our meals along with their resident dog, Rocco, who was very sweet, lingering near outdoor diners, but not begging or being a nuisance at all. The first night we had l'insalata caprese €8 and tortelli 4 formaggi ai burro e salvia €15 for my wife and the lasagna bolognese €10 for me along with a bottle of water with gas and a liter of sangria €12. My lasagna was delicious and HUGE, but my wife's tortelli had not been properly drained, watering down the rich butter and sage sauce, but my wife still enjoyed it. On the subsequent evening, we forewent the starter, my wife ordering the tagliatelli con funghi €10, me the spaghetti carbonara, and sharing the cotoletta alla milanese €12, a bottle of water and two glasses of house red wine. All were very tasty, especially the carbonara which was prepared in the traditional way by adding egg yokes just before serving with plenty o' pepper ... HOOAH! Our dinners, a starter, main and wine/water ran around €50, not bad for good meal for two, so Ristorante Toscania was a definite Travelvalue and worth a return visit the next time we go to Naval Air Station Rota. We've tried many places and were just so-so, but this one is the clear winner. The pizza: their pizza is Napoli style, the birthplace of Margherita pizza. So naturally, i had to try it! Very delicious! It had the right amount of sauce and cheese and the dough was the perfect chewy to crust ratio, the way I remembered from eating pizza in Naples, Italy. My friends ordered the Salcissia e friarelli and the carbonara. Both were just as tasty! Pizza portions are huge (comparable to serving sizes in Naples) and can easily be shared between 2-3 people or if you are hangry, just eat it all by yourself haha! The spaghetti allo scoglio was delicious! Just the right amount of seafood and olive oil and the noodles were cooked to a perfect al dente. My niece enjoyed her gnocchi, she is 7 years old but finished the entire dish. The only time she has ever done that was when they were living in Naples. The calzone frito was huge and just as amazing. It is stuffed with ricotta and some kind of salami thinly sliced and is fried. The dough was amazing on its own, it had a sweet taste to it. It was a huge portion as well. The tiramisu - homemade and so good! We barely had room for dessert but figured we should try it since everything else had been really great. This didn't disappoint! They also sell mini pizzas for €1 if you get it to go! The owners/pizza magic makers are originally from Naples, Italy. They also use the brick stove to cook the pizza. Very nice staff here. It is outdoor seating along the beach. For the summer months, they do recommend reservations on Fridays/Saturdays. It is Street parking and there is also a public garage that is a 5 minute walk. We definitely would come here again when the craving hit!
