While at Lost Generation, we ordered food from La Michoacana, as their truck was outside, and really enjoyed it. I had a carnitas taco and some of the steak quesadilla. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. I found the red sauce addictively good. I tried a bit of a friend's guacamole and that wasn't bad either. Got tacos off their food truck, the birra and pastor. Pastor was interesting, with a crunchy breading that tastes good, though unusual for pastor that I'm familiar with. The pineapple was very faint, so while it was a good taco, I would hesitate to call it a pastor. Birra meat was good, but the cheese and oil made it a little overpowering. We tried this at one of the bars on the beer trail and while the staff wasn't super friendly, the quesadillas were pretty solid. Both the chicken one and the cheese one were quite filling and the salsas were good (but nothing to write home about). read more

5/5 stars from me! I ate here on Saturday and tried their entire brunch menu and loved it all! I also tried their Steak Burrito and Birria Burrito. The Steak Burrito is very similar to a California style burrito which was super delicious! & the Birria Burrito was super yummy with pork inside. Highly recommend also getting one order of their churros as well (it comes with a a lot), those were amazing! Such a crowd pleasure! Such great tacos!! I had the chance to try La Michoacana at The Other Half brewery and they were incredible. I had a hard time choosing which to order but ended up with the birria and salmon tacos. The birria was so delicious and the consommé was the perfect mix of spicy and savory. The salmon was perfectly cooked and I loved the pickled veggies on top, and slathered the habanero salsa all over for the perfect kick. They had an app that made ordering easy. La Michoacana delighted my soul and bestowed my spirit with their salmon birria tacos. Now, I'm telling everybodddddyyyyyyyy..... those tacos will make your soul glow!!! They were so good, I closed my eyes and was humming while eating them. The octopus taco was good and so was the standard salmon taco dressed with chipotle Mayo, pica de Gallo, and pickled red onions. The shrimp taco was also really fresh and light and made me reminisce about being beachside but the salmon birria tacos were the true star of the show. For my no beef or pork eaters and or pescatarians, you need to run and don't walk to get some salmon birria tacos. They are located inside MiXt food hall and serve good mexican food. My favorite was their birria taco and I also enjoyed the streak burrito which was huge and had roasted potatoes which is a topping that's different than other burritos. I wasn't a fan of their birria salmon taco which is popular there or their mexican corn. Overall, not a bad place to stop by for a good quick meal. read more

Let me tell you something...I don't even red meat. I haven't eaten red meat in 5/6 years. Well maybe like 5/6 days, because that's the last time I had the birria beef taco from La Michocana. OH MY GOD. This place is ridiculous. I get this and the chicken tacos (which are also good but I'm not crazy about). The birria is absolutely perfect. Savory cheese and tender, tender, mouth-watering meat. I cannot say enough. I have not been to the storefront, but their taco truck circles around breweries in NE DC during the weekend. Had 1 chicken taco, 1 shrimp taco, 1 steak taco, 1 birria taco, & 1 salmon birria. All were phenomenal!! The tortillas are from scratch. Some taco places are greasy heavy, this was so light and perfectly filling/felt healthy. The spot is very big clean and cute there's even a bar and some arcade games and shuffle board. Well priced. Tried this food truck while at Metrobar, and was super impressed. Best tacos I've had in DC, hands down. The corn tortillas are substantial yet still thin, and perfect for the flavorful fillings. I tried the salmon, shrimp, and al pastor tacos. I also had the birria, which is in a different kind of shell. All were absolutely fantastic, balanced, and super fresh, with my favorite being the salmon. Each component of each taco was flavorful in its own right. Oh my, what great tacos! I'm from SoCal, raised on the fiery street tacos sold outside of dance clubs in East LA and the ones you get in the small restaurants in Eahle Rock that also sell menudo to cure hangovers on Saturday. This has a different ambience but the tacos are so good. I had a chicken taco, an al pastor taco, a tinga taco and a salmon taco with a side of black beans. The last is close to the ones you get in Cabo but with salmon. And the hot sauces are flavorful and spicy enough to approach the heat level of those dance club tacos.
