The prices are on…read morepar with Mexican stores in the area (be prepared: nothing is labeled with a price but they will tell you if you ask but please don't ask for the price of everything...that's just annoying). The store is very clean and well kept. The girl who is usually behind the counter is SO nice and always smiling every time I go in and makes me feel really at home. You will typically find me here to buy chorizo but when my husband comes in, all bets are off and we end up buying half of the store! When you walk in, to the left are the sweets (mantecadas, gansitos, principe etc.) and chips (churritos, rancheritos, crujitos etc.). It literally feels like a little piece of heaven. Then, there are isles with all kinds of Mexican canned and jarred goods, cueritos, jello mixes, rompope, sodas. There are fresh chiles and all kinds of cooking supplies (molcajete, vaporero etc.) Towards the back are refrigerators where the vegetables, quesos, meats (chorizo, longaniza), pre-made jellos and avocados are all kept. Recently, they started carrying fresh tortillas, bread, home made potato chips and pan dulce. One time we went and they had fresh bunuelos....to die for! They also make their own tamales (rojo, verde and rajas). I've tried the rojo and verde and the verde is THE best I've had in the area and I will definitely go here to get it from now on! Word to the wise: the tamales are only available on Saturdays and Sundays and start at 8:00AM. If you go too late, they will run out!

So no ambiance fr. Check their IG for the daily specials. Those are the real homeruns

Pre Covid you could sample all the flavors. Now they'll give you a sample of you really want to try one. There are also other gourmet products. It's a great place to pick up items for a gift basket. The best part about the store is the employees! It's a small business so the owner is often there. . Abby, the owner's granddaughter, was there the day I was. She was so friendly. Abby was also knowledgeable about the products. On a previous visit, one of the staff told me to mix the honey ginger vinegar into seltzer water for a little flavor. I was skeptical but it's really good! The store had hand sanitizer in several locations and limited capacity. It's the perfect place to do some holiday shopping!

I always have an issue when people can tell someone has not been to a place before and even if they havent it should be an immediate question. Is this your first time here? It builds a relationship. The owner and his employee seemed to have had an exchange about the meat being used for the shwarma. I order rhe shwarma combo but ask for it dry, I dont like sauces ir other wet ingredients making my food soggy. I asked for no garlic sauce and you guessed it, I got it anyway. Didn't want to make a fuss besides I was starving. Food looked good but there was a piece if plastic in the shwarma who seems like it may have been part of the wrap it came in. Again I am starving and just peeled it off and continued. I should have said something but didnt. Well played and presented with just the right portion size. Fries were really salty, I jist wiped the salt off and continued and I ate at the store. I would def try again as this place def has potential but will remember to reiterate my order and confirm, any problems bring it back.

This cheese brings me back to my childhood days in South Philly when my grandfather would take me on a trolley ride to pick up these braids. The addition of genoa salami to the purchase is all my idea though. This store is very small, but it packs quite a punch, armed with various stuffed olives, cheeses, peppers, packaged goods, homemade frozen Italian dishes, gravies, soups, garlic bread...everything you'd expect in a South Philly salumeria. This time of year (November/December) they have homemade Italian Ricotta cookies--ignore the price and get them anyway. Come to think of it, ignore the entire tab--some things you just can't put a price tag on. There's also a small deli case for stocking aforementioned salami, lebanon bologna, prosciutto, fresh, locally-baked rolls, as well as your usual fare from the case. I like coming here because they treat everyone as family, no pretension, South Philly parked in NJ.
