The outside at night was glowing blue lights with a ranch feel. Had a cat run up to us to greet us. They had cows and horses on the hotel land. We had Foie Gras salad and a local soup as an Appetizer. Superb!!! Then I had fish (Zander) (basically Walleye) with amazing vegetables and sides. My wife had a pastry style chicken dish. Very hearty and filling. The wonderful people brought her a birthday platter with a flaming candle on top. The whole experience was great. I would like to mention must have reservations. These wonderful people treated us great with fantastic service. The food was amazing! Imagine a thin crust pizza covered in creme fraiche, onions, ham, and mushrooms, then blanketed in cheese. Yup. Delicious! The hupsa pfannala was less to my taste, probably because of the type of cheese used. It's a mix of potatoes and ham with cheese baked on top. All things I love, but somehow it didn't float my boat. The pork was amazing - it was braised until every bite was tender, richly flavorful, and just falling off the bone. Fantastic! Overall, a great place for dinner when you've finished sampling too much wine. It fills up quickly, so either show up early for dinner or make a reservation.

Our stay was literally 500 feet from the restaurant so we totally lucked out! It's a tiny restaurant with only about 10 tables. It was full of Germans and even the one woman server seemed German but spoke delightful French and she was also very friendly and helpful with the menu. Alsacienne food is served here which is more of a German twist. The wines are inexpensive, blanc, and more on the sweeter side - delicious paired with food. My salad was amazing and huge. Lettuce was topped with juicy pieces of grilled chicken, sweetest tomatoes, apples, almonds, and amazing deep fried croutons. Why can't they do this all over France? Husband's starter was the omelette and salad. The buttery omelette was decadent and had generous bits of bacon. YUM! The entree was choucroute (saurkraut - a must have in this area) topped with pork belly, ham, bratwurst, sausage, potatoe and a dallop of mustard. But we were really sad and confused when we got there and found out that they had canceled our booking at the door. It felt like they didn't know what they were doing. I can't really say how let down I felt. We had an email from the restaurant confirming our booking, but when we got there, it seemed like they didn't care about it. It felt like we were more of a problem for them than customers who had made a booking. So we were left outside in the cold, hungry and let down. It seemed really unprofessional. The way they didn't care about our booking and the way the staff acted made us feel really bad. This is not how you expect a good restaurant to act. To anyone thinking about eating here, I would say this: If you want a place to eat that respects you and is reliable, then you might want to avoid this place. Our night was ruined by really bad service. There are places out there that care about and respect their customers. This clearly isn't one of them.
