Parking in the lot with some dedicated spots for La Mesa Peds, they're on the second floor east side of the building complex. The quality of care has been good so far with our newborn baby. As my baby pediatrician's office I THOUGHT I would be able to call the office to get nurse advice so I called in to get advice on IF I should bring her in based off my babies symptoms they stated they couldn't do anything for me/us. So I decided not to move forward the appointment. They sent me a bill for $25 for a NO-SHOW appointment I never scheduled and threatening to send me to collections AFTER the front desk told me it was waived from a misunderstanding on their staff, for weeks they continued to harass. Maria is very unprofessional and rude!! I have never had a problem until running into her. Everyone else in the office tries to help but she will do anything to make it hard for you. I will be looking into other doctors after 6 years with the same doctor because of her. Very unprofessional if she answers the phone might as well hang up and call back someone who will help because MARIA will just give you a hard day even if you have a flat tire and your sick kid is sleeping she will expect you to uber there with your sick kid even tho he is taking a nap and mark you a NO SHOW even though you called that same day to make the appointment and told them the same day it was in our best interest to not pull him through the sick entrance. Took my son here on Aug 1 for a vaccine we were told he needed. After multiple calls back and forth, the office confirmed his annual physical was done, so we could just come in for the shot. We arrived early, waited, and paid a copay -- only to be told after check-in that he had already received that vaccine (Tdap) in the past. This could have been avoided if staff had reviewed his chart before scheduling. Instead, my insurance was billed and I paid a copay for a completely unnecessary visit. Staff were quick to announce my copay at check-in, but no one verified whether the appointment was even needed. Very disappointing and a waste of time and money. read more

I'm a first-time mom with a 2-month-old baby, and I'm still learning how to manage everything, including making a perfect schedule. My baby had an appointment for his 2-month check-up, but we arrived 12 minutes late. The front desk said they would check with the pediatrician to see if my son could still be seen. I thought they would understand because, let's face it, not everyone is perfect at arriving on time, especially new moms. Front desk came back and told me they couldn't accept my son because we were more than 10 minutes late. I was so disappointed. I had even called ahead to let them know I'd be 10 minutes late, and they said that was okay, but they refused service because we arrived 12 minutes late. I expected pediatricians to show more understanding toward first-time moms and newborns. I thought they cared about their patients, but it seems like they only care about sticking to their schedule, and money. Thank you. read more

We've been going here for almost 5 years for both of my children and have been very happy. We see Dr. Alsheikh and she is a very kind and caring physician. She never makes us feel rushed out and I love that she always takes the time at the end to ask us if we have any questions for her. I only ever take one child in at a time, but she always asks about the one not there. She's very quick to put in referrals and respond to requests by email too. As far as the practice as a whole, I love that there are so many doctors there because we can be seen quickly even if our regular doctor is unavailable. I also appreciate that they have separate well and sick waiting rooms. They use MyChart which makes accessing records and info easy. They work well with Rady's which is really important to us as my son has more complicated medical conditions. The only con would be that they aren't open on weekends but many practices aren't. However, their nurse triage line is awesome and have always called us back promptly and given great advice. read more

We love seeing Melinda for our infant. She's super reassuring and sweet. She also always makes sure to ask how we're feeling in addition to our little one. Whenever he is sick they get us in almost right away. They have plenty of doctors and nurse practitioners to choose from. It's a great office with a lot of variety! read more

My son has been a patient here for over 10 years. It is so sad that I can not positively recommend this office to friends, family or coworkers. I am a grandmother now, and let my daughter know how my son and I have been treated by staff here at this office recently. We do not receive responses or followup when we have questions, requests or medical related needs. The decline in care is recent but never the less hurtful, stressful and unfortunate. I am so disappointed in La Mesa Pediatrics. They used to be a caring office. So sad. read more

Do not recommend this place at all. First of all, the people at the front desk are rude and it's like they feel miserable with their job with how they treat the parents. There's one lady in particular who is always moody and doesn't seem happy to help more like she's forced to help. We are first time parents so we're new to this journey. When our baby had a fever, we messaged them on the portal to figure out the best solution and steps to take a NURSE replied with FEVERS ARE NOT DANGEROUS... my baby had a 103 fever. She said that if the fever is constant for four full days to bring him in... I was not going to wait until my baby was extremely sick to take him in. I would consider taking your kids else where because this place is ridiculous. read more

I have been coming to La Mesa Paediatrics since 2020 and I love this Place. Dr. Al Sheikh is amazing , treated us with respect since day one. Dr. Al Sheikh very professional, and most importantly during our office visits she makes sure that she answers all our questions with patience and professionalism. If we contact her via mychart, she answers within 2-3 hours and if she feels we are still worried she would ask us to make an appointment and go to the office same day/week. Even with my son being fuzzy, she would notice all his behaviours and make sure he is well. Dr. Al Sheikh treat my nephew's and nieces and all the family loves her and love how she is fast responding when the kids are sick, and takes the time to address kids milestones at each visit. read more

I've been going to La Mesa Pediatrics since my newborn was first delivered- the doctor and the physical location are fine (mediocre but fine) but the staff in the reception are abhorrent. I was 9 minutes late to my appointment- with a newborn and toddler in tow, by myself- absolutely mortified that I was late at all. I stated my newborns name and the receptionist checked me in- so much so that she had me sign in. My toddler then expressed that he had to go to the restroom so I asked permission to use the office bathroom- which she allowed. When I came back the receptionist told me I was now "13 minutes late" and she talked to the doctor and they said my newborn couldn't be seen. I was in complete shock and visibly upset, on the verge of tears. There was 0 empathy shown. I was simply offered to reschedule and sent on my way. I've never been treated this way in any pediatricians office. If anything, other practices have always shown empathy because they are a PEDIATRIC office and they fully understand how and why parents are sometimes late. My husband then called to have a conversation about our poor experience- he had to leave a voicemail- and was only contacted 48 hours later. They were unwilling to talk to him about the experience so we asked for our records to be transferred to my toddlers pediatrician. They didn't care about losing the business. I'm happy to be having both of my children seen by another doctor and another practice. One that actually cares about their patients and their family. I will never recommend this practice to anyone. I do recommend searching elsewhere. read more

We LOVE our child's doctor. But, after being with this group for many years now, I have had enough. The staff is always smiling and kind, until you need something from them, then its like pulling teeth. If it doesn't fit their expected process, they balk, and hard. Don't try to talk about shot schedules, or alternatives to medication, And don't even think about using this group if you speak english as a second language, the reception has NO PATIENCE for you. My wife is very well educated, but is spoken down to, every time she calls, asks questions, or has concerns. She is a very kind person and tries to deal with it, but I have had enough. This entire team needs to take a round turn on their customer service. It is getting atrocious, and COVID isnt a good excuse anymore. Find another medical group. read more

My daughters are patients at La mesa Pediatrics, and we had recently seen Dr. Huda Alsheikh No words could truly describe our gratitude towards her. She exceeds our expectations on extraordinary care she always has an answer for ALL my questions. She is super kind and patient. Not to leave that she has really long and good experience specially with newborns and I love my access to my chart so when ever i have a question i can message her and she always reply fast to my concerns. Also would like to mention group of people that work well together to take care of children! I'm a first time (new) mom, and I (like most new mom's) feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. I've met with 3 doctors from La Mesa Peds, and they all have my baby son's care in mind- I feel like each doctor truly advocates for their little patients. Dr. Short has treated me with respect with a lot of questions I have. I was frantic because my baby had gas and I didn't know what to do- Dr. Short encouraged me to come in if it would make me feel better and I did. He educated me without making me feel like an idiot, and even gave my baby a full exam to put my mind at ease. I've been especially grateful for the way he's always talked to me in a way I can I understand, and especially the gentle way he has handled my infant son. In retrospect, I've emailed him some pretty stupid questions, but he's never made me feel stupid and has always taken my concerns seriously. The office staff has always been kind too :) I've called the on call physician number before too at 3 am and I was called back within 10 minutes. They were extremely kind and gentle with me, which is always appreciate to feel validated, especially as a new mom. read more

This place is amazing! Due to insurance changes & restrictions, inadequate customer service & correspondences at other pediatricians I wound up at La Mesa Pediatrics. Absolutely the best thing that could have happened for my son & I. Most recently I met with the dermatological specialist Dr. Melinda Ly regarding my sons molluscum. She spent over 30 minutes with us patiently and thoroughly going over and explaining not just the issue at hand but all the other questions and confusions every parent has. Dr. Ly was personable and funny, wrote up a detailed visit summary including ALL the information we discussed and most importantly made my son feel comfortable and safe. read more

This place is okay depending on your child's needs. Dr. Imus is great. Dr. Short I'm not fond of. & Dr. Clay is only there a couple times a month. I have had other female doctors for my younger children and they did great. With my last being being colic it took the whole office to help get that situated. Dr. Short wasn't very helpful. I actually didn't connect with him and his bed side manner and felt a lot of my questions were left unanswered. This is a pro-vax office. Dr short had told me they didn't do a delayed schedule even after I expressed concerns with allergies and reactions. Another doctor- female- explained they do in fact do a delayed schedule and I could do one at a time. Just knowing there is a delayed schedule is an alternative now- I feel better. read more

Our pediatrician office closed down and we were recommended to switch to La Mesa Pediatrics. Dr. "G" was actually my son's first pediatrician at another practice before she left. I was happy to try to switch back. Here's the problem: I have attempted to call for over two weeks. I have left my name and number twice on the new patient message and also have tried other options to make an appointment with no luck. They NEVER answer the phone. I finally was desperate, so I went to the office. After listening to the receptionist talk to a family checking in, I turned around and left. What a joke! The Dr's may have been referred but it's not worth all the hassle. Reviews going back 6-7 years talk about how impossible it is to get an appointment or a callback so clearly it's not going to improve. read more

Have had great experiences at this pediatrician's office with all three of my kids. One of my kids has autism and has a harder time at doctor's offices. Ever since I came here I've had nothing but good care. When I found out my insurance wasn't going to cover anymore I Immediately had to get the problem resolved. I recommend any of the doctors as my daughter was bouncing around at first. They are all so sweet and kind. Sally was the best! She took care of my baby and made sure she was happy before and after her shots. She calmed my baby down and gave me some water (I'm pregnant) she really knows how to take care of her patients ! She's so gentle my daughter loved her ! The front desk are welcoming and answer all questions I have without any attitude. I had been sending my son to La Mesa Pediatrics for a few years and only because Covid hit and doctors offices were not taking on new patients. To sum up my experience with the practice, the front desk admin is rude and not personable. The nurse staff has no bedside manner, and were cold and short tempered with my child. Dr. Moffat was the only reason we stayed for so long, but I don't know if Covid has scared her into becoming rude and pushy, but I had to defend my request to split my child's vaccines(they wanted to give him 4 in one visit) and she made me feel like I was some derelict, conspiracy theorist parent, despite the fact that my child is fully vaccinated and I've always followed this practice for vaccinations. That visit was enough to motivate me to seek out a different office. I don't recommend this office. read more

I love la Mesa pediatrics. My husband and I have had nothing but a positive experience. We didn't have a pediatrician assigned prior to giving birth so a pediatrician from this office was assigned to us at the hospital. We decided to stick with them at first out of convenience, but after working with all the Drs and especially nurses there we love them! There's no need to switch. The nurses are very caring and make you feel at ease as a new parent. read more

We've been going here for 3 years and I would say it's just been mediocre. So, a month a go I get a phone call from their billing department and to call them back. I called and waited on the phone for about 35 minutes and then the gal answered and click, nobody was there. I called back a second time and waited 45 minutes before I hung up. Mind you, we've always received and paid our bills promptly. Today I get a call from a collection agency and I'm like WTH?!? I asked my husband, did we receive a bill that maybe was overlooked and he said no. I finally got thru and I explained to he that I had to call 3 times and I just got an OK. Then she says well we got returned mail, Umm, we haven't moved and still the same address and then I got well you have to pay the collections agency now, no help. BTW, the bill is only $250. OMG! I will never bring my children to this incompetently run place again! read more

Best pediatric center I've been to. I've been to this place since my first born is 1 year old. We mostly see Dr. Megan and her asistant Sonia. They're always caring and helpfull with any questions and concerns I have as a mother. I have recomended this place to my family and now they bring their kids here ad well. Parents Beware. I took my son to this doctor office for his first wellness appointment since he was born in Europe. I set the appointment as a wellness checkup and I double checked again when we went to the office. Low and behold, I received a $33 copay bill in the mail. After calling the billing department and asking what the bill is for, they informed me the appointment was out of context of a wellness exam. For all the first time parents in the world: asking a doctor questions about your baby does not constitute as a visit that is out of context of a wellness exam. The question we asked was about his consistent vomiting. The physician assistant said it's normal and told us it's nothing to worry about. I called my insurance company and asked for justification to ask a question, at a wellness exam appointment about a vomiting infant. The insurance company said the doctor can charge whatever they feel is within context. So, I asked how much is the doctor charging the insurance company. It was a total charge of $700. For a wellness exam!! No wonder we have a corrupted medical system with absurd costs. This is absolutely wrong in every sense. How can a doctor be trusted if I am not able to ask questions? read more

I have been with them for five years since my son was newborn and now that I have my two daughters. They are the best, All the doctor are really nice, helpful and informative. Whenever my kids are sick and I have questions, I call after hours, they respond very quickly. Sally was great, really helpful and supportive. Sally helped my son and made him happy.
