This most recent visit was a one-star experience, and giving the benefit of the doubt; maybe they just had a really bad day. As a starter, the three preparations of foie gras were just ok. The seared was nothing special and the terrine did not seem the best quality (e.g. it was crumbly in texture). The "creme brulee" was too sweet and not good. The duck was well prepared, but the sauce was overly sweet (thankfully it was on the side). The weird part of the dish was the veggies were all in puree form, and really none of them were good. The potatoes were gratin dauphinois, and somehow even this was messed up -- dry and tasteless. My friend's tuna tartare was very strange in flavor -- something like fennel. Whatever it was, the combination was bad, and it was left unfinished. It also didn't help that the fish didn't seem fresh, and had almost a gray color. Again even the sides were kind of messed up, as the greens had a sauce that tasted too much of horseradish. At least the fried potatoes were good. This restaurant never had the nicest ambiance -- it's kind of a tacky mishmash or themes. On top of that for the price, you would hope for much better flavors and quality. Maybe they just had a really bad day, but there was very little redeemable about the recent experience.

I visited in the Spring of this year with family from Annecy. They spoil me and this is one place you should check out. The couple is working hard for your business. This is not a big meal kind of place as you can see from the photos. However, the prices are kept reasonable and the menu is governed by whatever can be purchased that day in the local markets. So it is fresh and well prepared. You can see the steak and asparagus, along with other vegetables accompanying my meal and the plates of my family friends. The steak was cooked to my desired medium rare temperature as you can clearly see in the photos. The pate offering was so unctuous. The selection of white wine was perfect for lunchtime and with the berry and macaroon dessert plates. This is a three and a half star experience and, as the couple progresses, I expect Le Bilboquet to achieve four stars.

You start off with an seafood & salad bar. I tried a lot of new items and liked 95% of them. Cocking the meet on skewers on a community grill made it fun. They have hot vegetables and a dessert bar but I only focused on the meat. If you want to have a good time and take a few hours to injoy a meal with good company this is the place to go.
