When we moved to London in August 2007 this was one of the first places I frequented for an early morning snack. for 1.80 you can get a croissant and a latte to go. The latte isn't large, but neither is the price. The croissants taste especially fresh when you get there early (before 8:30), and are still good a few hours later.
Sometimes we order a catered lunch from here which usually consists of a couple of sandwiches cut in diagonal quarters. They usually send about 80% sandwiches with pork and bacon, an egg salad sandwich and a few vegetarian. It is not the most exciting lunch, but I know they do much better sandwiches and all types of bread.
It seems to be run by a French family as they are always chatting away and I hardly understand a word, but the service is always friendly. They do have an upstairs seating area, but the food will cost extra if you choose to eat in.
I recommend La Madeira for an early breakfast or a take away lunch. read more
