While studying abroad in Salamanca, my friends and I decided to come here for dinner after passing by on a random evening. They offered a 10 Euro menu del dia option, including starter, entree, wine and dessert, so we decided to give it a try.
Inside, it was hot, stuffy and unwelcoming, so we opted to sit on the terrace outside. The server was friendly and attentive and took our orders fairly quickly. The food was below average. For starters, I got the paella. This was my first time ordering it in Spain, so I was excited. Sadly, after 2 bites, I could not touch it again. The rice was cold/crispy and there was tiny baby black squid mixed in throughout as well as other 'questionable' looking seafood that I was frankly scared to touch. Not what I was expecting for paella in Spain. As the main entree, I had the drunken chicken, basically just a marinated rotisserie chicken, which was okay. My dessert was a "lemon mousse cream", which was really more like sour greek yogurt with a hint of lemon. No thanks. On the bright side, the wine that was included was decent and we were given about 2-3 glasses worth in a carafe per person.
All I can say is at least the service was decent, but the food was not anything that I would return for again. Keep an eye out for other options in the area of the Plaza Mayor. read more
